Picked up 04 Taurus Wagon for a bargain...

Congrats on your purchase. We had a 94 Taurus with the 3.0 Vulcan. Great car. We had an issue which I believe is common with age and miles. The water pump is mounted on a plate, which mounts to the engines block. The plate corrodes and will leak, dripping on the exhaust system creating a lot of...

'88 Ranger Slow Starts When Hot

I am not a fan of where Ford mounted the TFI on the distributor. But if you have owned this vehicle for years you are aware of the history of the TFI. On several vehicles Ford moved them to a cooler location. It could be other things. But I would double check it.

Does the KIA engine warranty cover excessive burning?

Burning that much oil your cat is getting clogged. This will make your car sluggish. I'm guessing you might still be running the original spark plugs?

    Land Surveying

You need a lot or property survey. Your realtor may be able to recommend a registered land surveyor. The property corner irons should not have been removed. Your county may have an engineering/GIS department which might have a plat or map showing your property in relation to existing roads and...

What oil should I put in my 2002 Toyota Corolla LE living in the California heat.

Congrats on your first car. That era of Corolla has a known issue of high oil consumption. Please check your oil often and keep it filled. I add an extra 1/2 quart to my old Prizm, which is a twin of the Corolla.

Your Thoughts about a Piston Soak and Diesel Oil in Corolla?

I have had better results with a 10W30, yours may vary. With the miles on it you will have a clogged cat nearing 190,000-200,000 miles and don't forget the O2 sensors. Just drive it and monitor it and keep it topped off.

Replacing themostat, radiator cap, and waterpump at a regular interval

Change your coolant at the correct time (perhaps a little bit early) and you most likely won't need to replace parts. At least not at 60,000 miles.

    Oil Filter Removal

This is neat. I'm thinking an old bike chain would work well. Edit: The image was a GIF video. It shows the chain being placed inside the wrench. The wrench then works as a lever, tightening the chain around the filter for removal. Sorry the GIF did not work.
