This has been seen on here before. That is why I went w 3k miles oci's. It started burning on my Element between 3-4k miles. Element did not burn prior to use, was using it to remove heavy varnish. Stuck rings were fixed prior to VRP being made.
Valvoline MV Import synthetic has a higher cst compared to Maxlife and it's cst is closer to Z1. I ran it in my Element that specd Z1 and it did fine. I would use that over Maxlife personally.
I used to live there, went many many times and did a labor job out at the tract when I was a kid. School would close for the races, Spring Break, and still does. Went many times, great memories
Lots of testimonials by thousands of users. Lots of info here about it and across the web. Your which manufacturer approvals mean nothing to folks that have used fully blended and approved oils and now they start leaking. I have used it with success several times and others here as well...
You were saying it is as thick and garbage as Lucas. Lucas cst at 100c is 110cst. Hardly as thick and your point of 300mls diluting 5-6qts oil is minimal. It is just hm additive without the oil. It is a proven additive
You can tell you have no clue about this product, it is not thick at all. Now they do make a thickener product, this is not it. Motor Oil Saver pours like 5w30
I've had good results from red bottle Maxlife slowing/stopping a leak. Never had a mobil hm slow/stop any leak either.
Try LiquiMoly Motor Oil Saver if you want an additive, works well too. Just snagged 12 bottles off Amazon for 20 bucks.
What i am using it in doesn't have ring problems, just some leaks. I'd run HM oil but I have a stash of Euro oils that I'll dump a can in with and call it good.
Yep, I bought my 04 Expedition 5.4ls 2v that was elderly owned, oil changed every 3k at dealership and the engine was spotless inside. Nothing wrong with 3k oci at all. On the other hand my 05 Element had stuck rings and cam lobes were covered in heavy varnish by using cheap quick lube oil when...
If temp controlled, run M1 HM 10w40 or 10w30 if that's what you want. I'd stick with the Maxlife Red bottle 5w30 if it was me. I'd also change the oil once a year but you do you.
Great thanks for the update. I know older GMs don't care what you run in them. I just wasn't sure about if newer ones cared or not.
Thanks for the update.
You will not gain anything in a full synthetic unless you are running long drain intervals. Your motor will run on anything you put in it just fine. Those 3.8l's run forever if taken care of, just change the oil regularly 5k for blends is easily doable.
I'd run it without hesitation. Ran mid 90s Pennzoil oil in my old c1500 350 a few years ago that was on a shelf in my moms garage. Shook it up, poured clear/amber in color and ran fine in it.
