I don’t think I’ve ever seen a rod bearing that didn’t have some sort of chamfer. It also looks like improper metallurgy with the bearings. The bearing scar starts at the edge of the oil hole and goes up. They all do. Always replace bearings once you’ve done the work to get in there.
Who really runs PUP for the full 20k?? No one. Just buy ST full synthetic 5w-30 ($18) for a once a Year OCI and sleep well. PUP doesn’t offer any additional benefits for a shorter OCI.
My driving is all urban. I would change it sooner if I was driving on dirt or off road. Having said that most people change their air filters way too soon. Installing a restrictor gage is the surest way to determine when an air filter needs to be changed
No
yes With an engine block heater. But if you’ve been running 0w-20, at -50, without a block heater, then I’d continue doing that. Summer 5w-30, no problem.
I love my trash man. I give him good tips $60-100, June and December, and I leave him a Gatorade on top of the container every week. When fall comes around and I have 10-20 bags of leaves and such….
Fuel dilution is a non-issue. But what I find astonishing is that an engine with over 2M miles doesn’t need any make up oil during a 17k OCI. It’s obvious the OP has done a great job taking care of this engine.
