Baldwin BD7317 cut open vortex filter dual flow Cummins 5.9L diesel, very nice filter

The lower element is a fine filtration, and you can feel the difference with your fingers. All the pleats are nicely shaped. It is not deformed at all. The bottom coil spring is strong thick wire. Apparently, I did not take a pic of it First picture shows the order of assembly There is no drain...

    Diehard battery date code?

No easy match up of this code I tend to think made in 2023 and December, there is no N in any codes I saw, they end with M. Backend of this story, someone left this at Walmart parking lot. I thought get 10$ or so as store credit from AA or AZ. Looked inside and it is pristine, perfect...

    Diehard battery date code?

For one thing, I know this battery must be 3 years or less old. It is in perfect shape, holds a charge, and is super clean looking on the inside. 12.68v sitting volts It did need some water added. It was bought at Advance Auto Silver series 35 A1 Here it is...

DC arc welder restores sulfated golf cart batteries.

Good golf cart type batteries have solid metal plates, ASFAIK, versus expanded metal plates of starter batteries. Expanded plates do give a lot more surface area for the chemical reaction to create electricity, (starting power) but those kinds of plates are also thinner, do fall apart and break...

drilled holes in battery caps to refill water, how to reseal? RTV? Plastic tape?

A Walmart 26R fit. Had to remove the dumb Ford wire battery cable clamps that hold the wire to the battery tray to allow wires to move up as a 26R is taller than a 96R. A 26R is the tallest that will fit this car. Old bat was a 96R, had a date of 8/2018, so it made it 6 years. Was nice that a...

drilled holes in battery caps to refill water, how to reseal? RTV? Plastic tape?

Here is a picture. My wife says she wants a new battery, worried about it not starting for her, this is her car. Which means I will have to get one. Thinking of Walmart Everstart. I will keep this one, I have other old batts for a core. Now it is a 40R. Will see if I can adapt to use one of...

drilled holes in battery caps to refill water, how to reseal? RTV? Plastic tape?

https://www.foxxlifesciences.com/pages/nylon-chemical-compatibility can't use nylon bolt, it would melt in the acid. Was thinking can use HDPE such as cut a strip from an oil bottle. Put it into tiny hole, and use solder gun to melt the HDPE strip to the cap. HDPE is a very strong plastic. And...

drilled holes in battery caps to refill water, how to reseal? RTV? Plastic tape?

I tried to pry the caps, but there is no lip, top is entirely flat. And you dont know if the top is actually one piece of plastic. All you see is a slight ring where a cap sits. Being a liquid battery, there is no pressure in the battery, a drill is just going to make a hole, not cause acid to...

drilled holes in battery caps to refill water, how to reseal? RTV? Plastic tape?

Sure, but I think I bought this as it was cheap at Walmart. It's been a good battery so far. All batteries use water.

A good idea and can then have a pull handle. Such as a small nylon bolt and nylon nut. Took little effort to pull off cap with the screw.

drilled holes in battery caps to refill water, how to reseal? RTV? Plastic tape?

Battery still starts engine and fast. It might be 3 yrs old. Should last another 2 years. So in 3 years, got to expect water usage. And always use DI water, not tap water. Once plates get exposed, they will sulphate. Battery makers like new battery sales sooner than later.

No hydrogen gassing as not charging. It sat overnight. Drill motor is far away from bit, and outside it is breezy. Darwin may claim you first!

And they don't seem to sell push in single caps AFAIK. Or they want some MOPAR ones for $30 a set., who knows what size those are. It is a HDPE plastic, any HDPE plug of a similar size could work Can't use a screw, the acid will eat the metal, and metal will get into the battery.

drilled holes in battery caps to refill water, how to reseal? RTV? Plastic tape?

Plates were not showing yet. Maybe the tape will be fine, who knows. Hole is 1/8 inch These are standard diameter. I tried an old lift off 3 hole cap, but the holes are set to wide.

drilled holes in battery caps to refill water, how to reseal? RTV? Plastic tape?

Simply the battery was low on water as it has been a few years of use. And bat took 1/4 gallon of DI to fill up Now I have holes to seal. I drilled a hole and used a screw to pull out the caps. It is a sealed battery, but all batteries, if you are aware are not sealed. water has to be added at...

Antiseize on oil filter canister threads?

I have seen people tighten everything to the point of deformation or stripping. I have never done it, stripped a bolt by over torque. I dont like antiseize in anything to do with filters, reason is they use ground up metal particles, and that will get in the oil. For example, a lot of add on...
