Amsoil Severe Gear 75w90 - 50,000 mile drain

Hi, I'm still at a loss to "splain" the burn rear diff. bushings unless it was low on oil to start with........ I would pull the diff. cover and take a looky-c at the gears. Respectfully, LG

Amsoil Severe Gear 75w90 - 50,000 mile drain

Hi, Jim YOU are CORRECT. That was MY error on the LSD check! And I am sorry for that! Long days and little sleep. Have had some sick grandkids and now I think I have it too. YUK! Jim, IF mvw2 was on a "winding" road or making lots of tight turns that would "cook" The LSD with the different tire...

Hi CinC, you are correct about Torsen type LSD's and you can do the same "test" for clutch types also. You gotta love the "testing"...........

Amsoil Severe Gear 75w90 - 50,000 mile drain

Hi, IF I understand how a Subaru AWD works(have an 03 & 07, both w/LSD re.)It maybe possible for the front end, with the different size tires, and center diff. to "over drive" or make the rear LSD clutches slip on both sides of the carrier. I seem to remember reading that the torque split from...

Amsoil Severe Gear 75w90 - 50,000 mile drain

Hi, don't know what to tell ya, but I have a real strong feeling your rear LSD clutches are toast. One end of your Subaru was turning faster that the other was, and the rear LSD was the "weak-link". The next time you are in that same type of stuck. As you give power VERY lightly add some brake...

Amsoil Severe Gear 75w90 - 50,000 mile drain

Hi mvw2, I hate to say this. IF your Subaru has a limited slip in that rear diff, you may have very well "smoked" the clutches because of the two different tire O.D's. Respectfully, LG

    Castrol dino vs syn. ?

THX 02, are those "white sheets" in "english" or written in "engineer speak"? I looked at the Castrol USA site and I'm not sure what they call that information. Besides I like to get feedback from the "field". Respectfully, LG

Hi all, it's the "new guy" again. In Castrol's GTX and their syn. in their 5W-30 is there any difference in these oils "cold flow"? That as in an early morning winter start(15 degrees F. above 0). Thanks for your time. Respectfully, LG

    Oil for 2 Subaru's

Hi Johnny, you may very well be correct about my 03'. I only saw Bill's post(thank you Bill!) AFTER the post I made.Think I will stay with 6 mos. max time with both cars.Just not sure if GC 0W-30 is "over kill" or not and I would be better off staying with GTX in 5W-30 FWIW: Subaru USA "experts"...

    Oil for 2 Subaru's

Hi Johnny, I have been thinking about doing just that. And "thinking" about a 0W-30 syn. oil like GC and a once a year change. Or would it be best to stick with the 5W-30 GTX for my use and change it at 6 mos? Both are really great cars. Respectfully, LG
