Clear Coat My Third Brake Light?

The clearcoat won't adhere to it unless you scuff it. I would gently wet sand it with 2000 grit...just enough to take away the luster. Don't polish it, don't do anything else except clean it with a dab of lacquer thinner on a rag to remove any oil from your skin. THEN shoot it with your UV...

    Anyone know the brand?

I've also seen a lot of OE sensors on different Asian vehicles that have Mitsubishi stamped on them.

    40 Caliber Ammo

Visited a (very small) local gun store last Thursday. Not a single box of 9mm anywhere in sight...but had more 40 cal than I expected. Bought 2 boxes of 155gr Winchester Silver Tip hollow points. Told me to check back his Wednesday as he was expecting more 9mm.

    Engine sludged... Options?

Some of those shafts have nylon collars on the end and are easily broken due to age and enough stress on them. A hardened steel shaft is an upgrade for engines with high performance oil pumps since they give more resistance to operate. An oil pump trying to pump "sludge" through it yields a lot...

    Engine sludged... Options?

Here's what needs to be taken into consideration. If you leave it, a piece could break off and clog up an oil gallery....possibly starving a critical component of oil, which almost always ends in a catastrophic failure. Happened to one of the trucks in our fleet just a month ago. One of the...

Speed bump installation on gravel road, does it certainly stop determined speeders?

I'm curious to know why all the traffic to begin with? Is the road a shortcut? Are they making deliveries to residents on the road? If the dirt road is "private", then you should absolutely have signs that say so. When they ignore those signs and simply use it as a shortcut...get the local law...

Do Range Rovers come with Mastercraft Tires?

You'd be surprised. Used to have all sorts of people riding in fairly new Mercedes, BMW's, Jaguar's, etc. come into the shop wearing "budget" tires. A lot of people bite off more than they can chew with an expensive luxury car. They may be able to barely make those big payments, and they usually...

Thinking buying 2007-2014 Silverado 1500 or Tahoe

I did all my bolt-ons in phases. Headers with the high flow Y-pipe were the biggest improvement I put on where I immediately "felt" the improvement. It really woke it up. It takes several upgrades to get it where you want it...but its doable.

Thinking buying 2007-2014 Silverado 1500 or Tahoe

Mine was getting about 15-16 before the mods. Get it tuned...put on a less restrictive intake and exhaust. An engine that is more efficient will have to not work as hard pull itself. People always wonder why V6 engines in full size trucks don't really get any better mileage vs their V8...

Thinking buying 2007-2014 Silverado 1500 or Tahoe

It's an extended cab 4x4 with 285/75-16 E rated tires. And yes...the speedometer was corrected for the larger diameter tire. 40mph wouldn't be considered "on the highway"....that's city driving. I usually drive whatever the posted speed limit is on the highway....maybe a tick or 2 above.

    What’s your favorite work boot?

Being in the petroleum transport and delivery industry...I look at comfort and petroleum resistance at a 50/50 characteristic. I've bought and worn them all. I no longer buy boots that cost more than $100ish. $200+ boots don't last any longer than $100 boots in my work. I just bought a brand...

Should I lubricate new brake booster check valve grommet?

It does deteriorate 100% rubber, but most automotive grade grommets are made with polymers and highly resistant to petroleum.

Thinking buying 2007-2014 Silverado 1500 or Tahoe

My 2002 Silverado Z71 5.3 has long tube headers with performance exhaust, a cold air intake and a custom tune to make it all work in harmony. I get 21mpg on the highway all day long.

Help with a body shop issue

The original estimate that most any insurance company agrees to pay out is always WAY less than what it will actually cost to repair the vehicle. There's a reason behind it. They WANT the customer to cash/deposit the check...and as soon as this happens, they can legally wash their hands of the...

    Suggestions: Mid-size SUV w/3rd row...

The Santa Fe and Sorentos changed in 2015. The previous years aren't nearly as appealing. We were in the exact same boat as you 2 years ago. We shopped and shopped. We literally drove every 3rd row mid-size within a reasonable distance. Like you, it would ultimately come down to what the wife...

Do you have a Favorite Battery Brand?

Been using AutoCraft batteries from Advance Auto for quite a while in several of my vehicles. My reasons are: #1, purchase online with a promo code...usually fetches a nice discount. Pick it up locally in 30 min. #2 Advance Auto stores are everywhere...in case you have a warranty issue. #3...
