Solar eating its own lunch in ERCOT

They do load follow but that's more due to intervention in the form of moving control rods and less so from the inherent design of the reactor. Now PWRs do have a negative temperature coeffcient of reactivity. Which means more heat less reactivity in simple terms. That also means less heat...

Solar eating its own lunch in ERCOT

Location by a water source, in a geological stable area which is exactly where a natural gas power plant would go. Cost over a lifetime the difference is negligible but nuclear power is disadvantaged in initial cost. Regulation a bit worse for nuclear power but coal and gas have it pretty bad...

Solar eating its own lunch in ERCOT

It doesn't hurt to have a diverse grid as older PWR reactors just want to run at full power at all times, but newer molten salt reactors don't have that issue really. So even that problem has been addressed.

Solar eating its own lunch in ERCOT

Not really. New reactors are better than the old reactors that are currently running and they will get better and less expensive with time. 100 units is nothing in the grand scheme. There are something like 200 coal power plants in the US and thats a 16% of our grid. So only needing 100 nuclear...

    1994 Honda Acty

I want a Kei truck so bad. I just can't justify it right now. I want a Honda Acty and I want to engine swap it with the engine out of a Honda Beat. As you get about 20 more horsepower that way which is half again the horsepower you get from an Acty. I have a K24 powered Civic that was a swap...

    BITOG wisdom/sage advice.

Traditions exist for a reason. Things being the "norm" tend to be so for a reason. My advice you should default to following the norm. If you choose not to that's fine but you should be really sure of why you aren't. I mean that in so far as the normal route through life graduate, get a job...

Solar eating its own lunch in ERCOT

Im aware that Microsoft is the reason TMI is being restarted. That wasn't the point, the point is a groundbreaking process of restarting a dormant reactor is being done. Which can pave the way for restarting other reactors. It also at least shows a bit of a shift in the perception of nuclear...

Solar eating its own lunch in ERCOT

Well on a positive note on all of this Three Mile Island is being restarted and it's looking like the call for a nuclear revolution is starting to take shape. Which would cause all of this talk about solar and wind unnecessary. As nuclear could easily supply the grid at 100% on current...

Hit a deer can it be fixed?

Eww that looks like a write off. I had an Accord that I loved it was a manual transmission k24 Accord that I drove to 325,000 miles until a dear hit like that. Can it be fixed yes anything can be fixed. Is it worth fixing probably not. Will an insurance company pay out to fix that almost...

    Whats so great about Jeeps?

Some people love to work on cars. Jeeps even stock break constantly so you always have something to fix. Some people want their vehicles to break their spines when hitting road bumps and boy do Jeeps deliver in that capacity. Some people hate having money and if you spend the outlandish price on...

Is this excessive wear for 75k miles? Honda ridgeline 2019 6speed awd

Not bad at all pretty normal during the first change you tend to see more than with later swaps due to the break in. At 75k thats normal. I would just advise you to do 3 changes in rapid succession then a single spill and fill ever 30k from here out.

    Unusual misfire situation...

What I have noticed is you have done very little electrical troubleshooting. Weak spark can be caused by a high resistance connection in your wiring. I dont know the operating principles exactly for your coils but it at minimum must have power and a ground connection. I would check if you are...

Brand recommendation for Power tools (drill, small impact, screwdriver) for apartment?

Brand isn't really that important. I worl in industrial maintenance we see everything from Rigid, Metabo, DeWalt, Milwaukee, and Harbor Freight. From that I will say without any reservation despite owning Milwaukee myself they all are about the same. Actually I want to get the new DeWalt 1/2...

Valvoline Maxlife ATF or Extended Protection ATF

All of that stands to reason and may very well be correct and it may be unnecessary to have DW1. Two things that still give me pause. Zinc is an antiwear additive there is a ton of zinc in the fluid. Now you could say that the zinc is to combat wear due to clutch slip. Seems plausible but zinc...

Valvoline Maxlife ATF or Extended Protection ATF

Wasn't aware of that. In that case for that unit I wouldn't be so picky. The two Hondas automatics I currently own are older 4 and 5 speeds. So my advice is based on that.
