Kirkland 5W30 runs rougher in Xterra?

Buddy of mine has recently started using the Supertech variant 5w30 synthetic in his 2002 Xterra 3.3 NA and says it is quieter than when he was using Mobil 1 5W30 Syn. Interesting that you are having the opposite experience.

After Tenneco sold the FRAM brand in early 2019 to First Brands (formerly Trico Group). Fiest Brands Group discontinued the Pro Series line within the Fram lineup. We may never see the FPS line again. Especially since First Brands seems to be buying up as many filter companies/subsidiaries as...

Hyundai Kona AWD Rear Diff/T-Case Recommendations

So basically no immediate benefit one over the other. I think I will go with Castrol as my cost is half that of RP locally. Thanks, Jetronic. Truly appreciate it.

Hyundai Kona AWD Rear Diff/T-Case Recommendations

Debating between Castrol Syntec and Royal Purple Max-Gear in 75W90 for the rear differential and the transfer case for a 2019 Hyundai Kona AWD. Currently have 37500km and will be doing a fluid change at the next oil change. Anyone have any experience with either Hyundai AWD on-demand system for...

The 9688 was developed to address flow issues on cold starts for the GDI egines in Hyundai, Kia and Genesis'. They would spike over 200psi in "cold" conditions (based on my conversations with Hyundai techs, it seems to be below 0°C). Which was too high a pressure for many aftermarket filters...

    Cabin Air Filter Recommendation

Speaking from the Hyundai and VW world, I have purchased both Hyundai OEM and TYC brand cabin air filters for numerous Hyundai's in the past year. See no difference between the OEM and TYC. Due to allergies of family members, I change the CAF every 12,000km or six months, whichever occurs first...

    Oil for Cammed LS?

5W50 all the way. Many moons ago I had experience with a heavily modified LS4 and an LT1 than thrived on 20W50, even happier when eventually on 5W50. Quaker State and Motomaster, both SOPUS at the time, were the choice oils due to availability and cost due to frequency of tear down and fluid...

    2020 Kia Soul EX

You are correct, Total oils are phenomenal oils in my humble opinion. They are internationally respected for their oils in consumer, commercial and racing uses. They are also the fifth largest automotive fluids producers in the world (doesn't mean everything, but is a tangible source of their...

Is this VW 508.00 a Mobil product?

From my contact at VWAG, Mobil ESP x2 0W20 is what you are getting in the 508/509 Volkswagen/Audi 0W20 branded in-house oil. Mobil says as much in their PDS without specifying which manufacturer they developed the oil in partnership with.

Just to chime in on this a few days late, but here is the Total Quartz INEOMC3 5W30. Carries the Hyundai/Kia approval. I was once exclusively using Total brand products, but have switched to Pennzoil due to changes in representation and distribution at Total Canada.

What are the most common oil filter sizes?

These are the top 25 filters as listed by Champion (Driv / Tenneco). Cross referenced filter numbers are also shown. For your reference and the reference for future use in the North American market.

Can Hyundai filters fit Mazda vehicles?

Hyundai filters are all metric. If I am not mistaken Mazda/Ford are predominantly imperial threading. The 35503/35504/35505 are all M20x1.5. The XG3593A variant is M20x1.50. Whereas with the Mazda/Ford XG3614 and XG3600 are 3/4"-16. Close, but not a perfect match. And in the world of oil...

Mercedes Sprinter V6 Diesel Oil ??

I ran the INEO MC3 5W40 in the BKW for 90,000km of that time. Pretty much since Total had set up shop in Québec around 2013. And those were not a gentle 90K klicks.

Mercedes Sprinter V6 Diesel Oil ??

It's somewhat difficult to be comparative with wear results between VE and CRD turbo diesels especially with VE cam driven IP TDI's with extensive modifications. But what I can say is when I tore down my BKW out of the Touareg to refresh it before attempting to break the 1000ftlb barrier, the...

Mercedes Sprinter V6 Diesel Oil ??

Before switching to Shell Rotella T6, I ran the Total Quartz INEO MC3 5W40 in a couple of very heavily modified VW TDI's. Only reason for switching was accessibility and certain modifications allowing for the use of less-emissions friendly oils. The "O" instead of a "U" is due to language...

    Champion COS16 (RA closeout) Filter C&P 6500mi.

Looks good. I run the COS3593A in my daily Elantra Beta II. Saw a recent youtube video of the COS3593A and was identical to the K&N Gold 3593A. Happy with them and absolutely none of the noises claimed by others on the Beta series'. Thanks for the C&P.
