New to the cartridge oil filter party....

From what I've seen on BITOG, Purolators and Frams fail occasionally. Seems to me Purolator more often with more severe failures, but that could be chalked up to bias from the community. Regardless, I won't use either of them, and just stick to OEM. Never had a denso filter fail on me and i...

Oil reccomendation for 99 Kawasaki ZR1100?

Thanks for your suggestions! Mobil 1 seems like a simple choice. I've read these flat tappet engines like their ZDDP, so I was considering Rotella. It isn't JASO rated but meets specs? If it won't cause any issues with the wet clutch I may try that, I've heard others elsewhere using Rotella and...

Oil reccomendation for 99 Kawasaki ZR1100?

It specs a 10W-40 to a 20W-50. It is my brothers bike and I'm helping him do some maintenance and a tune up. I don't know much about motorcycles, I'll tell you what I know about the engine. Clutch and the crankcase share an oil sump, it's water cooled, and is carburetor. Inline 4, and I...

    Bro Truck Rant

The thing I notice around here are that a lot of lifted trucks are "pavement queens", with real cheap lift kits that serve no practical purpose, these guys have to go .5mph over speed bumps for fear of hurting their cheap suspensions. You can tell the difference between those and the guys that...

    Mobil1 EP 0W20 Blend, 5k mi, 17 Honda Pilot@30k

I basically just re-read Dave's "What is normal" article on UOA's, fair warning for how I'm looking at this. Copper is definitely within the standard deviation, and because that is the highest above average wear metal, I'd say your engine is wearing wondefully, perfectly normal for that engine...

    Circle K frustrations

Mark, it sounds like we live in the same town. Maybe not, but it sure sounds like it. This is also driving me crazy, I have to drive to one of the Shells by the interstates if I want top tier, and it's usually more expensive. I'm back to Caseys gas and using techron twice a year.
