Purolator PureOne from my brothers 3.6L Pentastar had a tear in it after 11k miles. UOA is pending, he runs Castrol GTX HM. The previous OFCI was 10.5k and the filter looked great, so I was surprised to see the failure here. I'll link the last filter from the previous OFCI...
I mean I would like to know how they plan on lubing the 600cc striaght six they are planning on putting on the Vulcan rocket under development by ULA. Maybe just a full pressure dry sump system? Are they just gonna fill it with 10W-30 or use some fancy space oil?

Or maybe it really is that simple. And for just the price of a new set of (direct) injectors...
I'm inclined to think that the OEMs would jump as fast as they...
I'm running 0W-20 and I'm at operating temp within 5 miles, checked using an OBDII reader. Operating temp meaning 176F coolant, which is when the Tstat opens. I imagine it takes another 5 or so for the oil to come up to a similar temp.
I think my relatively quick warmup is due to it being a 1.8...

I believe it's because the cold flow test manufacturers use is more concerned with cold pumpability, not just how quick it flows or pours. The cold oil...

I feel like I may have posted here before, but I'll go again! 173k miles on an 09 Corolla, 2nd transmission installed 2k miles ago. Burns ~1qt every 2k, had conventional oil from lube shops run for too long until I got it and started learning around 130k miles. HM oils cleared up the smalln leak...
You think so? We were both more than a little uncomfortable pushing a syn blend so far, but this is our first foray into extended OCIs. The numbers don't lie but it just seems like a such a long run when we're both used to 5k changes.

Why pay extra for Amsoil when Dnewton3 and others have shown similar OCIs with a good UOA using say, Halvoline syn blend? I agree there are benefits for some to running extended drains, but Amsoil is just way too pricey for me when you can get great oils for less.
Either way I change mine when...

I would guess it's about 75% city, 25% highway. Rush hour traffic most weekdays, so not all easy miles.
