Ordered Nitto Terra Grapplers for the Tacoma

On Sale For 149 at discount tire. My 2020 installed General Grabbers AT2’s have given me plenty of miles.and never wore out with 52k on them. But the compound is aged out and cracks are developing resulting in poor wet traction and highway speed risk. Would have replaced with the updater...

    Mobil 1 FS vs ESP

Full Saps is better for severe operating conditions such as high loads and high temps as well as cleaning and preventing deposits.. The additive package is great for this purpose. ESP is better for sensitive emission systems and it has esters to compensate for its low saps additive package.

    What's everyone's favorite 0w-20 these days?

I have not researched if any are doing this but a system like the mg between the transmission and motor belhousing on upper end Toyota trucks may be able to do this, or may already. I just haven’t looked into it. However, many of the non hybrid stop starts rely on a beefed up starter and eco...

    What's everyone's favorite 0w-20 these days?

Because it is different. A hybrid will spin the ice up to speed before it fires it. Could be spinning 2200 rpm for example before it gets fuel and spark (this has the engine firing with good oil pressure as well)during this time a motor generator is propelling the vehicle and the ice takes over...

    2024 tacoma oil service question

While touota care just use a vacuum pump and remove the oil and add fresh at 5 l letting them do the filter change. After that use a premium filter and continue the pattern. Use a good oil, it won’t make a ton of difference. In all likelihood your use pattern will change before you are done...

    What's everyone's favorite 0w-20 these days?

I was wavering on 0w20 between Mobil 1 esp to VR&P I pulled trigger and went with the R&P. This will be my thick summer oil for the Corolla cross hybrid and I want to clean any by potential TGMO deposits off from the first 25kmiles of Toyota Grok AI helped me rationalize this with my...

GM now saying to use 0w40 in 21-24 6.2L

Been running M1 FS in my Tacoma and previous 4 runners for years. Not a Chevy but never worried about warranty issues. To the engine is question, this sounds like a manufacturing and or materials issue. Probably will get extended warranty or a class will be formed I believe.

New Sierra HD with 6.6 gasser ordered, wondering about cSt

My work truck in the arctic circle is a 2025 Chevy 2500 HD with that engine…I got it new this year and the company uses Delo 5w40, Runs, great. Not a problem cranking, not a problem consuming.

    Shell Rotella T6 10w30... thoughts???

I don’t see the problem, too bad it’s not dual rated. My work truck gets filled with Delo 5w40 synthetic all fleet in the arctic. (6.6 Chevy gasser, doesn’t use oil between changes…could be fuel in it from idling.

Post your latest oil purchase or even filter.

Ordered 6 qts of m1 0w40 in quart bottles FROM Costco while they were on sales for the Tacoma…I know fancy! Have filters and additional oil in the cart for the taco and the cross. Oh so many good oils, m1 0w16, m1 0w20 esp. Or perhaps that popular VRP 0w20 for the hybrid cross? Does it make...

Top off with a heavier oil for 0w-20?

Depends on the location the engine etc. How much oil are you losing between oil changes? If you get to the add mark and it’s been 5k miles you might as well change it. Something is wrong and maybe you need to try to remedy the consumption. But I would top that 0w20 off with any 0w20 to...

Reasons NOT to use Kirkland 0w-20 or 5W-30 Synthetic...?

Whatever formulations someone could glean before could be different today. Remember that Mobil1 has a vast amount of resources to the commodities that make up their oils and things such as plant outages, supply gluts or commodity pricing could influence the formulation from batch run to batch...

    2GR-FKS 0w-20 or 5w-30?

It can handle anything from 0w20 5w30 and 0w40..not a picky engine. I have been running 5w30 and 0w40 in mine for years, I wouldn’t blink at an OCI of 0w20 either depending on planned service.

Lexus RX350 - Oil recommendation to add to Mobil 1 0W-40 "euro".

I have just poured in 6 quarts and ran with that in that engine. No issues. The dipstick range from low to full is 1.6 quarts….you won’t notice, neither will the engine.

    Cummins releases first gas engine

I like the idea of this going into box trucks and school busses. For my current work world Diesel used to be king in the arctic, until DPF. (Used to run off road diesel for a long time) Now gas options are more attractive. This is a good looking truck engine for work.

6.7 inline 6. Should be nice on existing B6.7 architecture for medium duty commercial trucks. https://www.motor1.com/news/753593/cummins-launched-gas-engine/
