For those that advocate 10K miles OCI

I don’t think it’s productive to point fingers and make assumptions when There is disagreement. Especially on something like choosing severe or normal service intervals, people can argue about anything, politics, oil changes, how high to cut the grass, index or actively managed funds.. Other...

For those that advocate 10K miles OCI

Yes sometimes a year is reached first. The Lexus will have less than 5k on it and it is coming due for its first oil change because of time o will let the Lexus dealer take care of that. Plus they clean it up real nice for me. My Tacoma gets 10k in less than 6 months. I used to do 5 k but I am...

    Suitable10,000 OCI choice for 2016 Lexus ES-350 (V6)

I run my 20k rated filters for 20k or 1 year. for The OP a 20k filter changed 1 time Year. I would run whatever the factory recommended regular oil change is 7500 or 10k whichever the manual states. This is not extended changes, these are factory recommendations.

    Suitable10,000 OCI choice for 2016 Lexus ES-350 (V6)

Depends on service and your sumo capacity, (does it take 6 qts)but nothing is wrong with your current oil. I run it out to 10k in my Tacoma (5w30 Kirkland) but I usually accumulate 10 k in 5-6 month With no towing. I will deduct to 5k or 7500k i tow a lot or do a lot of off pavement.

Nice highlander. I have had several vehicles with the gr series engines (tacomas 4Runners and another Tacoma and a rx350.the current Tacoma is my workhorse racking up a lot of miles. None are picky about oil. I have run 0w20’s 5w30, 10w30 and 0w40 In the 2grfks. I have settled on usually...

When and how have you personally deviated from the car owners manual

beside viscosity choices that Toyota allows anyway, Ihave bypassed lockouts such as the requirement to be in4 low to run an electronic locker. so that I could run the locker anytime and Used the hell out of that mod to drive down the beach without having to use 4wd unless I stopped. I have cut...

What is "severe service" by OEM's and your definition?

I hit lots of traffic snarls on hot Texas interstates..i Am not worried about the oil or the transmission fluid. a lot has to do with driving style. Are your breaks weari faster or slower than average? That is a good indicator of how rough someone is stop and go. I am at 66 k on my original pads...

What is "severe service" by OEM's and your definition?

Any service where you are only getting half the fuel mileage of your rated mileage. Driving in heavy and constant dust and extremely rough roads( rough roads is for the chassis and suspension) Short. trips exclusively And nothing else. Running with a mechanical issue like leaky injectors or a...

    Ford 3.5L at 31k miles / SuperTech 5w-20 at 11.8k miles

I think we are way in the weeds for this thread. Why not use a sticker on the air box indicating the last air filter change. i worked oilfied road with heavy caliche dust and never had a filter out of service prematurely. I think opening the box is a higher risk than having a filter holding a lot.

This is why I tape seal my air cleaner shut to prevent techs and doing qualitative checks Based on perception. 30k before I even look at mine but I want to put a vacuum minder on the air box So I don’t open it unnecessarily.

2019 Toyota Tacoma TRD Off-Road Dealer Bulk 0w20 5,000 mi UOA

I don’t believe running the regular interval of 10k in a Tacoma is “stretching it” that is the conservative manufacturer recommended interval for regular driving conditions, 7500 would be a conservative ratio I run when I tow trailers or do a lot of unsaved dusty surfaces. 5k if I am towing and...

    Ford 3.5L at 31k miles / SuperTech 5w-20 at 11.8k miles

No one said 10 k no matter what. Their is a year limit on the factory recommendEd interval and this is a built in conservative measure. Which works pretty well to limit mileage in severe usage. For example my Rx 350 may go 5-6k a year so an annual oil change is perfectly safe even for for wife...

Oil for a car that sees Uber use?

it should be easy on the engine as it will stay up to operating temp for the time it Is in service. i Would run the Cheapest rated synthetic I could get my hands on in it. What you should advise him on is avoiding overLu intoxicated riders that will do a number on the interior. Airport duty...
