I work for a GM dealer, and was browsing a GM tech page on fb after work hours. That’s how I found it.

GM now saying to use 0w40 in 21-24 6.2L

I have a 14 6.2, and already planned to switch to 5w30 after my amsoil 0w20 run. It’ll be on that till it won’t go anymore.

Honestly wasn’t sure what to expect, but that’s why I’m doing this.

Makes sense. Winter time I idle more than I should. The truck will have one more amsoil syn blend 0w20 uoa, then it’s getting 5w30 the remainder of its life.

I do have one uoa from before my first lifter failure, which would make it before the afm delete. I can post it and y’all can look. I’m still learning how to read these tbh.

This oil was ran for 4,377 miles with an acdelco pf63 filter. Some more than normal (to me) idle time, mostly around town, but got some highway miles in probably 65/35. Amsoil syn blend 0w20/ pf63 went back in/on. Also did the afm/dod delete @ 99,6xx miles, so silicon is still around. Truck had...

Valvoline R&P Oil Burner Test Results

Idk if it’ll be in your owners manual yet, but BG, and GM partnered together to help fuel systems stay clean longer. They also have a diesel fuel system treatment that they made BG reformulate to meet what GM wanted. Ford has also partnered with BG recently.

Funny enough BG 44k is currently recommended by GM every oil change (7,500 miles in their eyes) to keep everything clean, and they even have their own Acdelco label on them in GM dealerships.

Rollback of CAFE Reported by Doug Burgum

Me personally, I’d rather take 1mpg less, and not have to put lifters in my truck. That 1mpg difference would take a very long time to equal the cost of a repair like that.
