Pastelub users: where all do you apply it on brakes?

Silicone grease for the pins and boots and Molycote M77 for pad backs, shims, and ears is specified by Honda and has worked great for me over a long time.

Where are you purchasing Honda genuine filters?

Hondaautomotiveparts.com - dealer in RI, good prices, accurate picks, good packaging, ship quickly, good service if they make an error. I like that I can order on weekend and have by Thursday everytime. Hondapartsnow.com will come from a number of Honda dealers, I got stuff from across town...

Which of the major brands have foil seals on their 5 quart bottles?

Mobil 1. Be sure to check when you buy (or before you drain old oil) - I had a jug of Mobil1 from Walmart online order that had been refilled with used oil (assume that the cap was split, no foil). Walmart agreed to give me a refund and didnt ask me to ship the old oil back.

Which of the major brands have foil seals on their 5 quart bottles?

Sorry to inform you - that cool cap is gone, they changed the in last year to the plastic cap like Mobil 1. It was a nice design, I still have on for one of my “leftover” oil containers. It think it drips less than the Mobil1.

Gold Standard for 2 Cycle Oils? Chainsaw

He was referring to some silliness about Stihl saying it is biodegradable in 3 weeks. It lasts just fine when mixed with fuel for me for 12 months usually.

Preventing sludge/varnish with Honda J35A7 VCM enabled engines.

For all three J35s, I have followed the Maintenance Minder oil change intervals for their entire lives. Maybe that is a helpful data point on OCIs. I posted some pictures from inside the valve cover of the 11 Ody recently. Here is a link: Post in thread '2011 Honda Odyssey, 210k miles, 9800...

Preventing sludge/varnish with Honda J35A7 VCM enabled engines.

My opinion based on my experiences and expertise. I own 3 Hondas with the J35: 2006 Pilot AWD, does not have VCM, 266k miles, no issues, daily driver now for a second teen. No oil related issues, never fouled plugs. 2019 Pilot, 87k miles, VCM disabled at 36k miles, no issues at all. 2011...

Owner of a 23 year old mower with a Briggs Intek 6.75 engine. It runs for 1.0 hours every week from May through September. What I do: Buy no-ethanol gas - see pure-gas.org to find stations, very accurate in my area. Treat fuel with Pri-G or Stabil per the label instructions. Store in 2.0 gallon...

    Pressure washer surface cleaner

I have a small electric pressure washer and I find the turbo nozzle works better for concrete than the surface cleaner. My smaller unit does not have enough flow to operate the two nozzles on the surface cleaner. The pro guys with giant machines get great results with the surface cleaners very...

does power steering fluid need to be changed?

Yes, for Honda J35 V6 engines for sure. The fluid deteriorates and makes the pump noisy. Clearly quieter after replacing the reservoir contents two or three times.

2015 Odyssey - Most expensive brake service ever...

I have been happy for 210k miles with Honda rotors and pads on our 11 Ody. I think it has a lot to do with the driver. Wife is rough on brakes when she drove it. It is my daily driver now (for last 75k miles) and I am light on brakes and pads last a lot longer for me. It is a big vehicle with...
