    1UZ-FE 98 GS400 11040 miles Castrol Edge w/titaniu

I'd prefer the 10,000 miles on an over the counter synthetic like this Castrol, Mobil 1, Pennzoil Ultra, but that is personal opinion. Thanks for sharing these UOAs! Very interesting. What oil did you put in now?

Golf VII TSI / Turbo worn out at 60 000km

The Saab owners manual I've read on one of their last cars said that after a long drive, keep the car running in park a couple minutes. It's a very hot engine compartment. Therefore, I guess they do sometimes still tell you to do this. VW makes a very high quality product from what I have seen...

    Mobil 1 0W40, 9,186 miles, 2005 MB S600

Astro14 - That is a fantastic report! Mobil 1 0w-40 works great in that 5.5 V12. Thanks for sharing that!! I believe those years, Mercedes said 13,000 miles in most Mercedes, but AMG & V12 cars they stated 10,000 miles max, sure looks like 10,000 is easy on it. I guess they never know how it...

12K on some M1 5w30 lots of Iron with Mobile 1

I'm surprised TBN isn't higher than 3.2 considering 4 make up quarts were used. You might consider the standard blend of Valvoline Maxlife. It has slowed consumption and leakage in some engines I have seen. I have seen in some particular engines depending on the problem, regular Mobil 1 (or...

    mixing brands but not weights/viscosities

A couple of the older vehicles I assist in looking after, once I've done oil change, they top off with a myriad of different oils (same viscosity). I try not to do it myself, but it doesn't seem to hurt.

Energy Conserving oil for Saab 9-3.

T-Keith - Stick with your Mobil 1 0w-40. It's a fantastic product and approved against your vehicle. I also take care of a Saab, and Mobil 1 0w-40 is the only thing I put in it. MPG requirements is one of the criteria manufactures have when they set specifications. I know Mercedes-Benz 229.5...

    got 200k Still Running 5w30!

Congratulations. 200,000 miles is a great accomplishment. It sounds as though you have treated the engine nicely indeed. You're right, we see from UOAs that most engines who use the recommend viscosity don't wear very much at all. Unless the manufacturer or engine calls for a thicker oil...

    Pennzoil Ultra 5W-30 replacement

With 5000 mile oil changes, regular Mobil 1 would be a good choice.

    black oil on dipstick confusion

I don't think I've ever really seen black either. My cars stay very clear close to 1000 miles then turn to yellow/orange up to about 3,000 miles. Then finally they get light brown/darker amber after that.

    2014 Ford Mustang V6 oil

Congratulations on first new car. The base engines are so much better than they once were. In a RWD car, it's a fun ride. Of course, I also believe you cannot have enough power. How long is factory first oil change interval? If not some insanely long interval, I'd stick with that. Any quality...

Cadillac ATS Engine Air Filter Interval Opinions

I would not go 45k miles either. I tend to go 2 years on my cars. One other reason to change the filter is that the gasket or other filter component could weaken from heat and debris, allowing a slight amount of dirt into the engine. Sure, probably a rare case, but I do always find the gaskets...

    M1 5W30

The engine will do fine with Mobil 1 5w-30. It is a quality product. I use Mobil 1 in several vehicles, and my Iron wear numbers are fine in UOAs.

I think for the OP's car, the Mann filter probably is Made in Germany and same as OEM. Reviews on amazon seem to indicate this. If so, it would be a great choice. Overkill, if you want Hengst for your application, you can probably get a Hengst on Amazon. Of course, it might not even be...

    Full Synthetic or Synthetic Blend???

Chevy1500 - Honestly, if you are using a synthetic blend at a decent interval, such as what the manufacturer recommends, there is no reason you cannot keep doing what you are doing now. Plus, you know the entire history of the car, so it is most likely near spotless if you truly kept up on the...
