    Valvoline Restore Protect 5w-30, 5149 Miles, 14 S60 T5

By that year, 5w-30 or 0w-30 in A5/B5. Earlier operator manuals would have shown more viscosities. I always used M1 0w-40.

    Valvoline Restore Protect 5w-30, 5149 Miles, 14 S60 T5

I noticed the boron too, I see it depletes pretty fast with this oil based on other UOA. West coast Shell V-Power, every single fill this OCI I think. I'll see how I feel towards the end of this OCI. Oil trap / PCV unit was done about 10,000 miles ago (10 months). You're starting with TBN...

    Valvoline Restore Protect 5w-30, 5149 Miles, 14 S60 T5

Valvoline Restore Protect 5w-30, 5149 Miles, Volvo 2014 S60 T5 (2.5 5 cylinder), 108,000 on the unit. I am using Restore and Protect in an attempt to help with consumption. Wear looks good. At 5149 miles and even having make-up oil added during change (1.25 quarts), the TBN at 2.4 shows is...

    Valvoline 0w30 Euro Oil

Some of Valvoline Euro oils have actual Euro approvals, whereas some are just recommendations. None of em have actual approval for BMW? Edit Euro 5w40 has LL-01 approval, but I'm not sure what one you need. 5w-30 does too.

    O'Reilly Store Brand 5W-40 A3/B4

I'd use it out of warranty for a normal OCI, maybe not for manufacturers 10k intervals. It looks like typical Euro oil. It's hard to go against price of M1 0w40 from Walmart (free delivery or curbside pickup).

    "Long term" HPL users: feedback/thoughts/analysis

Is there any risk with the cleanup of carbon from rings that it could break off and hurt the valves?

    Valvoline Restore & Protect 5w30 2023 GMC Sierra 1500 2.7

In some ways, I have been disappointed with R&P. However, on my first run in the spring until after my second fill with it this fall, I do believe I saw MPG increase in my Volvo. Of course, I was also coming from thicker Euro oils. 2-3 would be a lot though. Even with my gasoline log I...

2 Valvoline Restore & Protect tests

And yet all the pistons are from the modified IIIH test. I've not seen one part from the dynamometer testing, etc. There could be other modifications, but I mostly take the "modified" to mean, they're taking pistons that come out of the regular IIIH test with a baseline oil and try to clean em...

That is an impressive oil! Wish they had it here!

2 Valvoline Restore & Protect tests

Or 90 hours at the IIIH testing parameters, 3600 RPM or whatever it is. I still think the deposits that IIIH accumulates (left) may be easier to remove compared to build up over ten years in everyday driving. Furthermore, the 90 hours at 3600 RPM for the right piston is not something our...

    Valvoline Restore & Protect

Sorry to hear it. If it stays at 600 miles a quart, maybe you should inquire with that warranty you mentioned having? I've honestly wondered if it is allowing my rings to get worse than they had been LOL. There's just so many factors, it's hard to know what's going on.

    0W20 Valvoline Advanced, 4,400 mi, 2018 Mazda 3 2.5 NA

That oil and engine seem to be working very well together! Thanks for posting this!

Valvoline Restore and Protect in Toyota Prius with 291K miles

Thanks Two. I love seeing the cut open filters. For those of you who are more into this than me, are these carbon pieces in the filter not something you see with traditional motor oils?

    Valvoline 5w30 Extended Protection

I was going through MSDS one night (the things we do for fun). I know they can change often. However, I noticed the MaxLife version of Valvoline Extended Protection was almost entirely GTL. Interesting!

    Post your latest oil change

Volvo won't pay the three warranty service claims (10k, 20k, and 30k) if it isn't that oil. I don't know how much they'd patrol this. Do they look to make sure they're buying drums of the correct oil often enough? Probably not?

Mobil synergy only in 93 octane?

Most likely they mean the higher concentration in premium gives you the 3x cleaner benefit. It's likely the same additive, but just much more of it in Supreme. Exxon Mobil is Top Tier in all grades, but they're pointing out to you what the premium can do. Many believe the Synergy Supreme+ is...

    Post your latest oil change

I had oil change on 24 S60 T8 plug in hybrid this week. 9900 miles. I estimate about 3500 were on the gasoline engine. I reluctantly used the dealer free service because the way this dealer is setup I was able to watch. It went smoothly besides a cringe as I saw them use a full size drill on...

Lexus RX350 - Oil recommendation to add to Mobil 1 0W-40 "euro".

It's $8.76 here, but still valid point. I really think you can put in anything. You could keep it half quart short, just keep an eye on the level.

Lexus RX350 - Oil recommendation to add to Mobil 1 0W-40 "euro".

The Euro add packs might be more similar, so that could be an option. However, I think I'd go with the Pennzoil Platinum HM 5w30. That has some GTL. Mobil 1 0w40 also has a lot of GTL. This will be 7 percent of the oil, so I don't think it's much of a concern anyway you go.
