    Valvoline Restore & Protect

You're using such a great product with the M1 0w-40, doesn't really seem necessary to change.

    Valvoline R&P 5W-30 | 5k mi OCI | 2020 Toyota Tundra

That's because this blurb was written before Restore and Protect existed. They didn't update it, when R&P came out.

Could HPL clean too well for my car's problem?

It was a Volvo dealer. Close to $800. I don't think the original was even bad yet, it was an upsell during timing belt work. Actually I didn't even authorize it, but didn't make a fuss. I know what you mean though that they could have not checked passages. However, hanging out at the Volvo...

Could HPL clean too well for my car's problem?

I think in general you're most likely right. The odds are it won't improve. However, it has only had 12,000 miles with VRP, so doing a couple runs with HPL, you never know. The second thing is if I can keep it from getting worse. Finally, if I can keep it from getting worse and go back to...

Could HPL clean too well for my car's problem?

The last years of the 5 cylinder had the same problem as the first years of the 4 cylinder. The 5 cylinder was given the extended warranty for certain years too. Mine is a 14. I really appreciate yours and everyone's encouragement. I would stick with VRP if it didn't consume so much more...

Could HPL clean too well for my car's problem?

I have been using R&P on my S60 5 Cylinder in an attempt to help with those inadequately designed control rings Volvo used for several years. It really has not helped at all and has always consumed more than my previous M1 0w40. I would like to try HPL to see if it helps over a couple OCI, or...

Why doesn't Kirkland synthetic oil put a mileage rating on it?

Makes sense. Time and time again we see around here that these are great oils.

Why doesn't Kirkland synthetic oil put a mileage rating on it?

Costco probably wants to be a little more on the up and up and not make mileage claims. They know it will work fantastic at the manufacturer recommended changes if it meets their spec.

BMW oil change with 20% non-certified synthetic 0w-20

It will be fine at your 5000 interval, are you still doing the free services every 10,000? If so, this will not cause any warranty issues either since they won't know you did extra changes. 5000 is fine on that oil, it's a good oil. The TBN will be much higher on the Euro oils, to help you...

Restore and Protect; How does it clean?

Interesting that this mentions a 3.3 percent fuel economy improvement, when that's something many users of Restore and Protect report. I just wish they'd make a 40 weight.

    Costco drop Mobil 1?

My Costco has HM M1 5w-30 in the warehouse too. I sometimes order the 0w-40 online, it seems like it is still there.

    Examples of "low quality" oil?

I wouldn't say they use especially low quality oil. However, if you have a vehicle of the last fifteen years or so with no leaks, why not use a synthetic? The off the shelf market (Walmart, auto parts store) has moved to primarily synthetic.

    Improving Oil Consumption — Part2

I couldn't quite tell. You're still on Restore and Protect or you've moved back to another oil? Glad you've had success with this!

    Valvoline Restore Protect 5w-30, 5149 Miles, 14 S60 T5

PCV system was replaced less than a year ago. Based on other UOAs with Valvoline oils, this seems right in line with what their oils do at this mileage. I don't think it's a problem. :)

    Valvoline Restore & Protect

The ones I've used, the 5 quart jug mentions all the marketing terms "liquid shield," etc. The quart doesn't.

    Valvoline Advanced vs Extended Protection

It was between EP and conventional oil. I'm mixed on the results with EP. It was certainly yellow, but 10,000 mile drains with a turbo, etc. They were probably easier miles than what most of us do though with idling, short trips, etc. I loved that video though. I wish more manufacturers...
