    2009 Camry Oil Consumption

Update: put about 120 miles on it, not a drop lost in consumption. However now ive got a noise from the crankcase. Its not a belt. I took the oil cap off and the pressure was released and the noise went away. Swapped out the pvc valve as the first step to solve this. Any ideas..?

I cleaned that prior to the soak. I know it wont hurt to hit it again.

    2009 Camry Oil Consumption

I know 50 miles isn’t much to really gauge fuel economy, but I can see the gauge literally dropping down as I drive..it did that when I first got the car

    2009 Camry Oil Consumption

I dont really have anything to compare. Driving is just local around the house. Opened it up a little but nothing crazy. The weird thing is it’s acting like it did when I first got the car as far as the fuel economy and I did replace the plugs and once I did that things changed dramatically to...

    2009 Camry Oil Consumption

So far so good with a few exceptions..oil is staying put but my fuel economy dropped quite a bit. I wonder if my plugs are fouled and or the pcv needs replaced again. Only driven about 50 miles but i can tell a difference. Any ideas?

    2009 Camry Oil Consumption

Well it’s running guys. I have the old spark plugs in for now and will put a few miles on it before changing the oil again and swapping the plugs. Also going to put some liqui moly in it before changing the oil. So far so good. Thanks to everyone on here for the advice and support!

I did look into getting something that would do that for me but Ive seen so many other people on here with success without that so I passed on it. But im sure it would make a difference.

Thanks. Yeah it's my daughter's car and she isn't going to need it anytime soon. If needed I can do this several days.

    2009 Camry Oil Consumption

Just checked it. Not much drainage other than cylinder 3 which was dry. Added a little bit to the others and about 2 oz back in #3. Give this a few more hours and check again. Turned the crank about 6 turns or so as well. This has been very interesting so far.

Thanks for that info. At the age of this car I'm not really considering pulling the engine, but it's nice to know there are options. So at this point I've pulled the plugs and hardly any B12 has gone down...I put a towel over the engine and gently hand cranked a few rotations and nothing came...

    2009 Camry Oil Consumption

Well folks, I've put about 1300 miles on with the R&P and not much change yet. I know that isn't a whole lot of miles for this but thought maybe I would see some change. I've decided to go ahead and do the piston soak. I've done enough research now that I feel pretty confident in this. Using...

    2009 Camry Oil Consumption

It's definitely something I'm going to ponder. For now I think I'll just use the R&P and then go from there. If no improvement at all I'll lean towards the soak. I think it takes quite a bit of driving for the R&P to make a difference though.

    2009 Camry Oil Consumption

Thanks for the vote of confidence. I saw a vid on yt of a guy that ruined his toyota doing a soak. I think he went way overkill on it though which is what did him in. I have to admit it scared me a little ha. When I get the R&P I'll get the 5w-30. Thanks again!

Thanks for the reply. Does your Scion have the 2az-fe engine with the known ring issue?
