Step up to 5w-40 or 10w-40 for summertime?

In your case you don’t need a synthetic. Walmart 10w40 ST is good enough for an experiment and the price is right.

3.6L 2018 GMC Canyon Oil Change Interval

I’ve been using cheap 10w40 GTX since the two free oil changes ended in a 2022 Acadia with the 3.6L LGX. I was changing it every six months regardless of mileage because it was a daily driver and 80% city driving. Now that the duty cycle has flipped to 90% highway, I’ll start using up the 6...

Nokian Outpost APT or Cooper Discoverer Road + Trail for '16 Renegade Trailhawk?

If you have half an inch of clearance 225/75R17s are an option. The Firestone Winter Force looks like an awesome winter and rain tire, but doesn’t have an aggressive sidewall. The Hankook AT2 would be a good all round tire with the look you’re after.

    0W-40 or 5W-40 only

It would, but there are better choices some will argue without proof. To pass MA/MA2 for motorcycles, it must also pass API SJ for gasoline engines. Say hi to MTG for me.

Nokian Outpost APT or Cooper Discoverer Road + Trail for '16 Renegade Trailhawk?

KO3s have improved syping over KO2s which will help their wet and snow traction. Two other options are the Yokohama AT4s and the Toyo AT3. Both have snow flake symbol rubber and 16/32” tread depth.

Nokian Outpost APT or Cooper Discoverer Road + Trail for '16 Renegade Trailhawk?

If he likes the aggressive sidewall look, would he go for KO3s? My pick for mostly highway is Hankook AT2. Both have 15/32 tread depth, are puncture resistant and will last forever. www.tiresize.com

    2021 Odyssey oil spec

The hotter the oil the better it cools. Same goes for the coolant temperature. Oil pressure is not a substitute for viscosity. Flame suit on.

    2021 Odyssey oil spec

Wasn’t 15w50 the recommended grade for Corvettes on track days? A high viscosity option instead of 0w40 in the 6.2L is 5w50.

GM now saying to use 0w40 in 21-24 6.2L

    M1 0W40 FS now has a GM part number. That didn’t take them long. #888 614 47 I found three 0W40 oil fill cap numbers. #126 697 92 which I think is the warranty replacement cap for the 6.2L LT engine. #126 864 72 must be for a Corvette because it’s $69 instead of $11. And #126 807 08. I’d...

    API SQ Coming Soon...

That’s a common practice. It allows for a sell down period of about six months for old stock with old labels to disappear from store shelves. The same thing happened with Dexos when they went from gen 2 to gen 3. For a while you could find gen 2 combined with API SP instead of SN+ on the labels.

GM now saying to use 0w40 in 21-24 6.2L

GM should do the same with the 3L Diesel. That way owners would get the first two oil pump belts that requires the transmission to be removed to get at it, replaced for free.

GM now saying to use 0w40 in 21-24 6.2L

Maybe for 2026 they will drop the 6.2L altogether and put the 6.6L truck engine in everything. No more stop/start, 0w20, variable oil pumps, cylinder dropping or fake engine noises generated by the sound system nonsense. They might as well put the 6L90E six speed back in instead of the...

    2025 denali ultimate oil question

My son just bought a new to him 2012 F350 with 224,000 kms on it, and the 6.2L gas engine. The oil had just been changed at a Ford dealership using 5w20, and a Motorcraft filter. By the time he drove it 1,300 kms to my place, it was over a litre down on the dipstick. He then drove to Vancouver...
