    Is rinseless wash really safe?

Unfortunately, you're confusing "Rinseless" washing with "Waterless" washing. Two completely different methods. Rinseless CAN be used without a hose for lightly dirty cars, as can waterless. But waterless can only be used on a lightly dirty car.

    Is rinseless wash really safe?

"Rinseless" is kind of a misnomer. It doesn't mean you NEVER rinse the car. It means you need to rinse LESS. As in only needing to rinse ONCE, instead of 3 - 4 times. If you use the 'Foam, rinse, foam' method, it's perfectly safe even for really dirty cars. What you do is pre-soak the car with...

Want to smack the Subaru engineers (oil filter placement).

I'm the 'car maintenance guy' for my immediate family (especially since retiring) and drove my mom's car the other day. I saw her old oil change sticker, and let's just say she was a bit over mileage. I told her I was "borrowing" her car to change the oil, it's a 2009 Subaru Forester w/2.5...

Obsessed detailer in a former life - The obsession is back

I'm available LOL. But I don't do mobile detailing anymore ... I have too much 'stuff' to fit in my trunk now.

Yes. I haven't used SOAP on any car I've washed since.

LOL. I originally called it "Royal Blue," but was immediately chastized by the Camaro Community, who informed me it's "Hyper-Blue Metallic."

    Turtle wax ceramic with graphene

I just did a light paint enhancement on my Camaro about 2 days ago. I plan on getting a 6-year ceramic in a few months, but the paint needed SOMETHING to protect it in the meantime. So I pulled out my jar of Turtle Wax Ceramic/Graphene paste wax & here are the results:

Unless you are using nothing but distilled water, or your tap water has 0 TDS (total dissolved solids - minerals), a leaf blower is not a good idea. While a leaf blower, or compressed air is great for getting water out of the hidden areas, they WILL cause the water to evaporate on the paint and...

Leather or synthetic Chamois have no where for any stray dirt particles to go, so they get trapped between the chamois and the paint and can (will) cause marring (swirls). Granted, after a good wash, there SHOULDN'T be any grit, but ... Murphy's Law I have a Griot's Garage PFM towel (XL) and...

Step 1. Lose the fear, it's literally just in your head. Even though I've used a random orbital since 1989, I was ALWAYS afraid of the rotary. I never understood that you DON'T have to use it at high speed. In fact, after watching Yvan's tutorials on the rotary, I never polish at mre than a 1 /...

buster - thanks ... 40years of practice led to those results. Well, Yvan IS Canadian ... :ROFLMAO: But seriously, when he's in, he's ALL IN - for whatever brand he is representing, and you can't really blame him for promoting DIY. The products I've personally tried have been top notch and as...

Harbor Freight Warrior Rotary Polisher BTW, you'll want to buy a 5" or 6" velcro backing plate - the better polishing pads come in this size. As for the 'grease mod,' the Harbor Freight BAUER (DA) and WARRIOR (rotary) are decent machines, but the factory grease is fairly thin, low quality and...

You should really get a rotary. I picked one up from Harbor Freight for about $30. I also did the "Grease Modification," - where you remove the factory grease and replace it with LUCAS Red & Tacky Grease. This simple mod makes the machine quieter and smoother, a dream to use. Also, I HIGHLY...

It's not that difficult to get your paint to the point where only someone with "Detailer Eyes" can see swirls in paint. About 97% (or more) of the people I show my work to, CAN'T SEE ANY flaws/swirls, no matter how obvious they are to me ... even with cars so heavily swirled that the paint has a...

Obsessed detailer in a former life - The obsession is back

At 16 I got my first car (mid 1980's), and it began. Slowly at first, but rapidly gaining strength. By 1987 the detailing bug bit HARD and I started working at a mid-level detail shop. The bug became an obsession and I was "One Of THOSE Guys." Life got in the way and I followed a different...

headlight install mistake ... 5 years ago

Thanks to all for the comments on the car. In a former life, I was a detailer (WAAAYYY back in the late 80's), but I took a different career path. I still kept up with detailing and was (I thought) really good. Just shy of a year ago, I started learning from Yvan Lecroix / DIY Detail and my...

headlight install mistake ... 5 years ago

Not meaning to fire up the "Aftermarket LED headlights are bad" issue, but I installed Sylvania LED H7 bulbs in my 17 Camaro with great results. Driving home the other night, I noticed a 'dead spot' in the light pattern from the left headlight. Once home, the lights hitting the back wall of the...
