    Cordless Tool Batteries

Three of the batteries were the 12V drill, and of course the drill was fixed twice. Most of it is just that it’s been my go-to since… 2010. First repair was electrical - F/R switch I think, 2nd was motor commutator/brushes were throwing sending burning debris out the vents … a lot of use. That...

Do parts stores accept rebuildable cores anymore?

My last neighborhood had a guy … and I absolutely left items out for him, and would go to lengths to specifically dismantle stuff in a manner which he could get the good stuff. It’s weird to me that my new neighborhood doesn’t have the same ecosystem (maybe bc I’m outside the city now?). But...

    Cordless Tool Batteries

Frustrating for sure. I’m stuck between rigid 18V, one 12v drill which has been the “go-to,” and then a small collection of ryobi when something weird is needed. Lawn implements are the ryobi 40V. The want to standardize is supreme. The wall of chargers tells the story. Rigid has given me...

    Post your last tire/wheel purchase

I’m pretty sure it was the Edge All Season. Surprisingly good down to the end. Probably didn’t make the rated mileage. I think they were probably a 55k mile tire, and I’m guessing she got about 50 on them to the wear bars. Still, to have good wet traction down to the wear bars is pretty rare …...

What are you working on today?

They are factory and designed to work with some oem accessories, most of which I would describe as homeowner friendly. They have movable rope cleats that come with the truck that are impressively sturdy if you’re securing camping gear - but if I’m tying down a small riding mower, any kind of...

What are you working on today?

DIY toolbox for the Tacoma. Used ammo can, rustoleum, and some lock hasps from Amazon. Screws into the existing bed rails. The ammo can locks are effective, but if someone wanted it, they could wrestle the mount right off the bed, so I wouldn’t call it high security.

What are you working on today?

As an owner of the Tacoma 4T, that is scary. I can see why people are uncertain about it. It’s like driving a diesel, 1300-1500 rpm all day long. It growls and digs, kinda like a tractor. The same engine is used I think in the highlander. It’s far more refined in that application. In the taco...

New Piston Heavier Than Original Piston

I did. And it’s hard to “feel” those numbers, right? I mean, how many times does it change directions per second at 3600 rpm? And balanced vs unbalanced (who cares in this example?) what is the force at the pin just as it slows, stops, moves - at the top and bottom of the stroke. If I understand...

Generator oil change after 73 hours continuous use?

Do you want to potentially enter the next emergency with 72 hours on the oil? Not intended to be a leading question with some hidden message… just - will it worry you. I know little about HPL and group IV+ lubricants.

New Piston Heavier Than Original Piston

Right. I wouldn’t touch the crank… you’d have to ADD weight to it… maybe shave the piston some. Seems that yours is very close to usable depending on some odd mix of “experience” vs “personal standards”

    Traded in 2022 Highlander-for 2022 Volvo XC60

I really like the XC60. It is right sized and the lines on it are well done. I’ve been scared of newer ones because the technology is running ahead of my own firmware.

Installed Michelin CC2 on a friends ‘15 Camry. 215-55r17. They replaced a set of well worn Kelly tires. The Kelly tires were a surprisingly good tire, even down to the wear bars - they had notable rain grip still and drove well but needed a little mild rebalancing. I say all this because the...

empty sump start - Biggest blunder EVER…..

No issue. Plenty of oil left on those surfaces under no load. Now, if only you’d had Slick 50 in the sump!

What are you working on today?

Friend’s 2015 Camry, Michelin CC2 tires 215/55 r17. Something made by Kelly came off. The Kelly tires probably made it 40k and were surprisingly good in the rain for being down to the wear bars with no sipes left. Out of balance was also showing. They wore fast but in all honesty impressed me...

Does the counter balancing on the crank play a role in the balanced assembly??

Using seat-belt inertia lock to stay put for performance driving....how can't this be safe?

If a pretensioner fires after your already have it tight, it’s not like it’s going to crush you against the seat. It’s going to draw a straight line between the points, both hips and above the shoulder, which aren’t so much behind you but next to you. It takes a lot of tension to provide...

Best additive to prevent fuel gumming up the carb?

All my gas cans get stabil. But the EU2000 will clog within 2 weeks if I don’t run the carb dry, period. Has happened so many times, predictably. Stabil isnt enough for this one unit.

    M45 supercharger question.

My finger-in-the-wind guess is that the scratch that side is not going to make a discernible difference. Now if it were 3mm deep and 3mm wide I’d call it a problem, but how much air can get through a 1mm x 1mm gap in the time where those gears are spinning at 4000 rpm?

    2020 Honda Pilot - 25k

I am also in that tiny minority of folks with bad maxlife experience in a Honda, though I have no issue with it in other makes. I use Honda oem OR amsoil. Frankly, I have favored amsoil over oem unless it’s something like a CVT. Have used amsoil in over half a dozen Hondas I help take care of...
