    I remember when cars had...

May have missed it in another post, but manual window cranks. Covered headlights that opened with vacuum (my 1978 Ford Thunderbird). Bumper rub strips and bumper guards. Analog clocks that never ran after a year or so of ownership. Rear seat ashtrays with lighters. Hubcaps (not wheel covers)

    Alzheimers sucks

Prayers for you. Lost my mom to dementia in February of this year. It was about a 2 1/2 year experience. Sad disease and so hard on the family. Mom was in a wonderful memory care, and I don't know what I would have done without them. But you said it in your thread title; it does suck. Take care...

Time to Shop Car Insurance. Reason to choose any certain carrier over another?

Last time I insurance shopped I actually talked to my local body shop guy to get his impression of what companies were the best and easiest for him to work with. I also asked him about likelihood of a company using non-OEM replacement parts. Might be worth you time to talk to the folks that deal...

New car purchase (VW or Subaru) - where to start?

Not a lot of Subaru love in this thread.....I'll still take long term reliability and maintenance of Japanese over German cars anytime. To each his own though; that's what makes the world go around. Good luck with the new car.

Good stuff. I actually had this 5 quart bottle for some time. It was hiding in my garage. More than likely though I'll go back to QSFS based on price, performance and local availability (the local Wally World keeps it in stock). For some reason the Magnatec has gone up in price in my area. But I...

Large mystery oil leak, Kohler Command 21hp

I had a Kohler Command 22 HP v-twin that did the same thing. Engine was on a Cub Cadet GT2550 lawn tractor. Whenever the outdoor temp was lower (in the 60's) in the spring I had very little usage. Once summer came and hotter temps it drank oil like crazy. I never tracked it down as a new John...

When to replace pcv valve?kit? 98 lesabre

I just bought a new pcv for my 03 Lesabre. I bought the car used two years ago with 79K on the clock. (low mileage) Have some minor oil usage so I decided to change the pcv. I was leery of handling the plastic and the associated map sensor, but managed to get it out without issue. Not sure, but...

closest to Subaru OEM bypass valve rate '18 Impreza 2.0

Wix 57055 In my opinion the Wix/NAPA filters are higher quality than oem. Purolator's L14615 also meets Subaru's spec. However I haven't run a Purolator filter on anything since their media tearing issues began.

Oil for GM 3.6l famous for timing chains.

In my opinion either of the oils you mentioned Mobil 1 or Pennzoil Platinum would be an outstanding choice. As stated Pennzoil, contrary to the old wives tale, is one of the, if not the, best cleaning oils out there.

'18 Subaru Impreza 2.0...which 0w-20 for tight budget?

NAPA/Wix filters are an excellent choice for Subaru. Correct bypass setting and very good build quality. Easier for me than oem as dealer is in adjoining county. Currently running NAPA Syn and NAPA Gold filter on my son's 2018 Impreza 2.0.

Late Model Subaru 2.5L Boxer Engine Oil Choice ?

Long history here with Subaru from 1995 to the present. I've had really good luck with Valvoline synthetics in the 0W-20 flavor in the 2013+ Subaru engines. However, the last two oil changes on my wife's 2020 Legacy have been with QSUD 0W20. No consumption at all at 5k oci. As stated when buying...
