What if anything to add for prolong storage

I would say you're good to go with a fresh oil change. Oil doesn't evaporate just sitting there. I would NOT add Lucas or some thickener. Recall that engines in salvage yards for years still have trace oil remaining on bearing surfaces etc. even after that time.

best thermal insulation floor carpet of corolla: fiberglass batt or closed cell foam between double sided aluminum foil

If the concern is AC, I think I would look at tinting the windows (check with local laws on how much is allowable; varies by state). Also consider "screens" that block sunlight. My SIL uses the fitted screens on the side/rear/front windows his Altima and he said it's amazingly cool even after...

    Torquing the Wheels

Lower the car just enough to keep the wheel from rotating while being tightened/torqued. Discount Tire and others have been doing this for years.

How much oil is reclaimed or turned into new finished oil products?

Aside from the smell, the used oil would have a lot of impurities...chemical and other, like sand, dirt, etc... that home heating systems would have a hard time burning without risk of clogging. Industrial boilers, not so much, and smell is a non-issue to them.

How much oil is reclaimed or turned into new finished oil products?

For home heating, I agree. But AFAIK used oil is mainly used as fuel in industrial boilers for manufacturing, etc. IDK that heat has much to do with it, and industrial users are not dependent on the weather being cold or hot so they would use it pretty much year-round.

    Turanza Quiet Track 215/55R17

I got them through Discount Tire about 15 months ago for my 2013 Avalon hybrid. Love them. Have had at least two flavors of Michelin on the car prior, and like these best.

High End Classic Car Contracts - is this how the big guys do business?

I suspect this is the case...gotta keep it hush-hush so only the "special" buyer has access. Sounds like a finder's fee is in the making. Remember, the car is worth what a willing seller and a willing buyer agree on. "Expert" appraisals on a rare car can be useful to some extent as a reference...

Mercedes 1966 280SL "Pagoda' Drive Report

[[What impressed me the most was the transmission a 4 speed automatic. These have a fluid coupling that is different from a typical torque converter and I don't know then specifics yet]] Weren't their automatics akin to the GM Hydramatics of that era, as those didn't have torque converters as...

Cleaned the outdoor AC condenser units today.

Question: is your clothes dryer vent in the vicinity? I ask since it seems like dryer lint is accumulating. Mine was, from when the house was built 40+ years ago, which also meant the condenser had hot dryer air blowing at it until I rerouted the vent outlet in a different direction. Just a...

    Another "boiling" expansion tank story

Sorry to hear that; hope the repair costs aren't too high. Or will you do it yourself?

    Another "boiling" expansion tank story

I know it's TBD for now, but I suspect the HG. Had two cars (both SAABs, oddly enough, a V4 in a model 96, and the 2.0 L in late 70s 99) and a friend with a mid-80s or so Toyota Forerunner who had similar symptoms. All were inconsistent in when symptoms would appear and none had the oil...

Metric for when it's time to move on

Or maybe consider the must-do items, like tires or rear brakes. What another poster said above is spot on, about what are you going to replace it with? Besides, some is deferred maintenance not unexpected major repairs. If these mechanical repairs mean it can go another 2-4 years, I'd say do...

    Amsoil CVT in Toyota

Do not use CVT fluid in Toyota CVT's. Use the equivalent of their reg ATF fluid. Their CVT design is not like others. Amsoil itself is fine. Look at the Amsoil website for the Amsoil recommendation for Toyotas.

anybody deal with a deadbeat car insurance company

"I'm thinking I need to get my own insurance company involved and have them go to bat for me. But there goes my rates, but I guess thats what insurance is for." Not necessarily. Call your agent ASAP. I suspect you will be fine. Note that most insurance carriers want to know if you've had an...

    Be nice to your in-laws.

Way back when, Buick had a slogan "When better cars are built, Buick will build them." Some may remember it. Some years later, I learned about the Avalon from my brother and mentally changed that slogan to "When better Buicks are built, Toyota will build them".

Should I proactively replace my stock alternator at 200K miles?

Given how much work you're doing to it now, some needed and some preventive, I would think peace of mind would be paramount in addition to the fun it provides you. Since you're there, yes, do it. OEM. And enjoy your cross-country trips!

Is this trailer worth salvaging for cross country use?

Depends how much they want for it. New wheels and tires are not a big deal but bent axle(s) could be a problem. But again, what is the acquisition cost? If the worst is wheels and tires (already a given) how much are axles and brakes, and what's the time needed to do that? I have no clue about...
