    New interstate batteries at Costco

I wonder who makes them? Need a group 27 for my `97 Ram soon!

Anyone use PepBoys for oil changes?

It is all dependent on the care the individual takes with your car. The place doesn’t matter as much as the person who does the work.

Benefits of Running a Larger Oil Filter? (Cold starts etc)

I called FRAM about running the longer 7317 filter on the `20 CX5 in my sig. as I already have them in stock for my Honda's. The guy I spoke to said "NO" only the 6607 is allowed. Also there was some confusion on some Mazda forums about anti-drain back valve or not to have as the Mazda filter...

    High Oil level Issues!

My '16 Suburban reads a little high also with 8 qts. After an oil change. That engine (L83) used to call for 8.5 when it came out and GM reduced it to 8 qts. Due to oil getting in the intake/breath/PCV system. So 8 is fine. I never really worry about it much, actually never check it other than...

    2020 CX5 oil capacity discrepancy

Checked the CX-5 cold in the morning on a 1.5 degree incline I am slightly under the full mark (1/8 inch) with 5.6 qts. in it. I know it is 1.5 degrees, because my `16 Suburban has an inclinometer, that teeters between 1-2 degrees in this parking space in my driveway. Yesterday, engine warm on...

    2020 CX5 oil capacity discrepancy

Maybe the angle of the ramps and then while draining, I leveled it out by jacking up the back. Thanks!

    2020 CX5 oil capacity discrepancy

I checked the part number on the dipstick, that is correct. The turbo engine has a different dipstick, mine is non-turbo. I guess the angle I drained it on got out more than a level surface would have. Getting more oil out with the front elevated I have noticed on my `07 Accord K24A8 also. I...

    2020 CX5 oil capacity discrepancy

Just rechecked after a 15 minute drive and 10 minute wait. The same as before. Reading 1/8 inch above full mark. I'm just leaving it that way. It it rises from fuel dilution, I will suck some out. Thanks!

    Thanks, will recheck warm/hot.

    2020 CX5 oil capacity discrepancy

Good to know! I will keep an eye on it, if it rises too high. I thought the SkyActive direct injection engines were not prone to the fuel dilution issues like many other engines?

    2020 CX5 oil capacity discrepancy

I checked it cold in the morning and also again when warm after a drive. Maybe it will be overfull when hot? Then I will be sucking some out with the MityVac, I guess.

    2020 CX5 oil capacity discrepancy

Did my first oil change on my new to me 2020 Mazda CX5 Grand Touring. 2.5 non-turbo. Manual and websites say 4.8 qts. Why did it take 5.5 qts. to bring the oil to the full mark on the dipstick? I used ramps, so the front up on an incline. While the oil and filter was draining I jacked up the...

Preventing sludge/varnish with Honda J35A7 VCM enabled engines.

looks like like Honda revised the PCV valve with a new part number, maybe that will improve things.

Those with 150,000 miles or more, check in

at 211,000 miles on the `06 Odyssey, running great. Have to do valve cover gaskets again and PCV valve and major cleaning as PCV system of front valve cover is plugged, causing leaks. All parts were just ordered OEM Honda (Majestic online)

HPL ATF Green CC or Amsoil ATL?

curious as how a fluid like above changes shift characteristic. Probably an improvement. Crisper, but yet smoother shifts, I bet, or I hope as I want to go this route also in my `18 T4R when it is due.

Do Esters and PAO's deteriorate/interact with plastic engine internals?

When plastic timing chain guides and tensioner guides, crack and fall apart, Is this a result of poor design/inferior parts, age or was it an oil that didn't play well with the materials these components where made of? I see engine disassembly videos on YouTube and many time these timing chain...

Do Esters and PAO's deteriorate/interact with plastic engine internals?

Do the higher percentage of esters and PAO's found in higher end oils shorten the life of internal plastic engine components, such as timing chain guides, plastic valve covers, oil pans, seals gaskets etc.? I remember having a plastic funnel I used for drain oil that got brittle and cracked...
