Advice on what to do about a technician who stripped my spark plugs into the head

You mean to say cleaner than liquid fuel (Gasoline) that we call gas. English is so contradictory.

Why do some cars just "eat" tires?

Weight torque and especially alignment all have their effect. And tire type. Sticky summer tires wear faster than all season or general purpose tires.

The only armor all wipe I have ever liked

Workmate had a turbocharged Honda motorcycle. The 500 cc V twin in the 80s. He armoralled the seat and went for a ride. When he opened the throttle it took him half a mile to move forward enough to release the throttle.

    {Really worried} Accidentally poured 2 20 oz of Techron

I have no way of knowing. Just something to be aware of if the thing does do a long crank.

    {Really worried} Accidentally poured 2 20 oz of Techron

Other than perhaps causing a long crank cold, it won’t cause any issues. The reason I mention the possibility of a long crank is I have filled motorcycle carburetors with straight Techron and it doesn’t light off well until it is diluted quite a bit.

Excess Solar Production - Considering an EV

We installed solar 7 years ago and oversized it with the idea of eventually getting an EV. Bought an MME last November. We had 9000KWH in the bank that we are using. It should take us 27 to 30k miles. When that is used up, the power company will power my EV for $.03 a KWH, which is about a...

Weird "bucking" issue with my 2001 Grand Marquis

When outside air temperature is the main condition of note, I wonder if it could be a fueling issue caused by a misbehaving temperature sensor? If a sensor is sending wonky data under certain conditions, it could cause one helluva stumble. It might be worth doing some driving while monitoring...

    Did I get bad plugs?

If you aren’t using fuel additives, I would consider suggesting that your daughter try a different station for a fuel fillups. Though not the same, the deposits on those plugs remind me of stuff I used to see on aircraft plugs when my airplane partner got lazy about leaning the mixture when at...

    guys over 50 doing maintenance

A quick bit of advice worth every penny you are paying for it…… Best way to find a life mate is to come across her accidentally while you are doing something you enjoy. Any pursuit that both genders enjoy is preferred. Join a hiking club or take up cooking classes. Whatever you do, don’t...

    guys over 50 doing maintenance

You made me think of when I realized I wasn’t as strong as I once was. When I was 60 (13 years ago) I had to replace the pumpkin in my 4Runner. Installed it like I always had, just got my hands under it and arm lifted it into place. Maybe 10 months later, I had to do the same with my...

    Preemptively Replace Battery...OR not?

I only have one question for the OP……Are you married or in a committed relationship? Does your mate also use the vehicle? My criteria for battery replacement is when the battery tests 75% of its original rating. If my wife didn’t drive the vehicle I would be tempted to go to 50% or maybe...

    Valvoline Restore & Protect

I have had a couple of vehicles that did that. I attributed it to suction being applied to the crankcase, and the seal on the dipstick being too good. So when you shut off the engine, oil is sucked up the tube.

    guys over 50 doing maintenance

Yeah at 73 I took 3 days to do the timing belt on my 2000 4Runner. A couple hours each day was plenty. Here is the fun part……The previous time I did that cam belt was 2009. 16 years to accumulate 100k miles. So I doubt I will be doing that again. Very often these days when I complete a...

    guys over 50 doing maintenance

A few months after my 70th birthday I took my Subaru to an independent shop to get struts installed. First automotive work I have hired out in my lifetime. Then this year I had another shop overhaul the manual trannie in my old 4Runner. I still do most of it. But with replacement shoulder...

    Viscosity

It isn't just temperature. You want all the nasty bits to be suspended in the oil so they drain with it, not stay stuck to the bottom of the pan.

    Use 0W-30 instead of 10W-30.

If your motorcycle has a wet clutch, best to not use oils with friction modifiers. I doubt you will find any 0W/30 that doesn’t have lots of friction modifiers.

Advice on what to do about a technician who stripped my spark plugs into the head

I am going with the “Tech” not understanding righty righty lefty loosey. Or he removed the plugs with a slide hammer. Plugs in a natural gas motor likely last far longer than in a gas engine. They may have been original. Which might partially explain how they became one with the head. Time...

    Hard Starting Accord

Given that the battery essentially went dead in a couple of weeks, my bet is it is a bad battery. Check the voltage while cranking. I bet it drops to 10 volts or less. If it cranks well when jumped, it is the battery. If jumping doesn’t help it is the starter. You may need both. A bad...

Why Does Low Cranking Rpm Cause No Start?

I think the issue is the spark is weak because battery voltage is dragged down when cranking with a low battery.
