Solar eating its own lunch in ERCOT

3MI isn’t being restarted for residential power; it’s being restarted solely to power an AI data center. That’s not necessarily a net benefit to society the same as restarting a nuke to provide cheap, reliable energy to a city.

Solar eating its own lunch in ERCOT

The only truly recyclable packaging material today is glass containers; plastic, aluminum and paper containers ALL have limited lifespans regardless of the recycling method. The only GRAS (Generally Regarded As Safe) container is a glass one; it doesn’t matter if the glass is 3 days or 300 years...

Solar eating its own lunch in ERCOT

Right next to all of the decommissioned turbine blades in the landfill, where they will stay for THOUSANDS of years.

Anyone here ever run a smaller than spec filter?

    The 6607 and/or 7712 is a disgrace to the M20x1.5 crowd.

Solar eating its own lunch in ERCOT

Some of this stuff is still fringe to me on the understanding of minutiae, but the big takeaway is: grid-level solar and wind not only add serious complexity to grid management, but they also leave the grid “high and dry” during times of peak loads, meaning that hydrocarbon- or nuclear-based...

Which is easier to blend: 10w-30 or 15w-40?

@MolaKule, @HPL Plant Manager or @Tom NJ are probably the most knowledgeable on that topic.

    What's everyone's favorite 0w-20 these days?

So you’re confirming confirmation bias? 🤣

    What's everyone's favorite 0w-20 these days?

Confirmation bias, got it. The variation in the energy content of gasoline will change the output of the engine far more than the difference of <4cSt viscosity at operating temperatures. Gasoline will vary 3-4% even just from winter to summer gas, meaning a 400HP engine may vary ~12-16HP...

    Michelin Defender LTX M/S2

Its a 5’ overall height, front-wheel-drive vehicle with 6.5” of ground clearance, an heavily sloping roofline and a large notoriety for H/K rod-throwing. Other than the dancing gerbil commercials, IMO, not much “sport” or “utility” goin on in that corner.

Why isn't High Mileage oil the "standard" oil?

But yet, that’s exactly how a majority of teenagers (and many college-aged students) survive… assisted living. They depend on their parents and/or taxpayers. 🤷

    Any 10w-30 HDEO users?

Delo XLE and VPB 10w30 have both been in the Impreza at various points. Impreza is getting all the oil I’ve acquired over the years just as a cost-savings measure since the newer vehicles all get HPL.

    Valvoline R&P 5W-30, 5k mi; 2019 Lexus RX 350 with 65k mi

Doubtful, since a UOA truly only tells you if the oil itself is still serviceable. Take a flip on the other (non-Swifty attitude that some folks seem to have for VRP) side… if someone had an engine with a known problem, like an already-spun bearing or worn timing chain tensioners, and poured in...

    Valvoline R&P 5W-30, 5k mi; 2019 Lexus RX 350 with 65k mi

The only thing that UOA tells you without conjecture is that 5,000 miles on that engine in those conditions was too long for that oil to stay in grade. Any other superlatives gushed on this oil, there’s no evidence that other oils with the same certifications/approvals wouldn’t perform...

New Jersey tells Tesla: remove super chargers from NJ Turnpike

If NJ is REALLY giving them a lot of business, follow the money. What’s in it for the people who approved the deal? Politicians don’t play favorites with taxpayer money for nothing in return. Heck, they won’t even get out of the way of the free market for free…

Cost for extended manufacturer warranty on a Bosch refrigerator

While obviously not as complex as a fridge, Samsung front-load washers and dryers don’t have the greatest track record. I got about 2 years out of the dryer before it broke. Called for Samsung repair (circa 2015) and the price was $250 for the call, plus parts. Did some research, the tensioner...

“Bone Mommy” on nitro, Wicked Warren’s in Warren, PA. Not sure how I don’t have a pic of it, after nearly a dozen pints throughout this week, but oh well. No comment on who comes up with their beer names, either… https://untappd.com/b/wicked-warren-s-bone-mommy-nitro/6271360

12pk Liqui Moly Motor Saver on Amazon

Congrats bro. Well done, you cracked the life hack code. What are you going to tell Lucas’s thousands of satisfied customers and positive testimonials? Or every other snake oil peddler? If this was legit, why isn’t it in every oil LM sells?

What in tarnation?! - Ford Ranger 3.0L Vulcan PCV

FlexTape? Maybe that LM Motor Oil Saver with 2-butoxyethanol acetate will “regenerate” the rubber? 🤣 Dumb engineering. Cool project to teach kid independent wrenching and following directions. 👍🏻
