Confirmation bias, got it. The variation in the energy content of gasoline will change the output of the engine far more than the difference of <4cSt viscosity at operating temperatures. Gasoline will vary 3-4% even just from winter to summer gas, meaning a 400HP engine may vary ~12-16HP...

Its a 5’ overall height, front-wheel-drive vehicle with 6.5” of ground clearance, an heavily sloping roofline and a large notoriety for H/K rod-throwing. Other than the dancing gerbil commercials, IMO, not much “sport” or “utility” goin on in that corner.

Delo XLE and VPB 10w30 have both been in the Impreza at various points. Impreza is getting all the oil I’ve acquired over the years just as a cost-savings measure since the newer vehicles all get HPL.

Doubtful, since a UOA truly only tells you if the oil itself is still serviceable. Take a flip on the other (non-Swifty attitude that some folks seem to have for VRP) side… if someone had an engine with a known problem, like an already-spun bearing or worn timing chain tensioners, and poured in...

The only thing that UOA tells you without conjecture is that 5,000 miles on that engine in those conditions was too long for that oil to stay in grade. Any other superlatives gushed on this oil, there’s no evidence that other oils with the same certifications/approvals wouldn’t perform...

If NJ is REALLY giving them a lot of business, follow the money. What’s in it for the people who approved the deal? Politicians don’t play favorites with taxpayer money for nothing in return. Heck, they won’t even get out of the way of the free market for free…
