    Speed Queen washer redesign/discontiued

We were sad to have to say goodbye to our 19 year old Whirlpool direct drive top loader in December, but went immediately and got a new Speed Queen top loader. I had no idea the change was coming. Quite thankful now, as I would not buy the new model. The roll over action on the new machine is...

    Parts store websites

I'm baffled as to why they are so awful, except RA. O'Reilly's was may favorite until they 'improved' it. At least they brought the compatibility tab back. NAPAONLINE has always been inexcusably bad, kind of like my local stores.

Change oil twice after timing cover leak (coolant)

So much coolant is still trapped in the block with everything removed, (unless you remove the block drains) I would change the oil (cheap insurance). I took the wet/dry vacuum and sucked out coolant from the ports just so it wouldn't weep during this job. You can still see the coolant...

    Has Photobucket eliminated Free...

I got the same message this week. I tried to look at the option to may some small amount, but the site works so poorly I couldn't even see what it was. I made a counter offer of deleting every one of my pictures and deleting the account. I've been mad at them anyway after they made their mobile...

Revived a old iMac, mate; now minty fresh

Sounds pretty good to me. Great bang for the buck. After W7, I will be going to a Linux platform myself. I was that impressed with my free copy of W10...

    Is this a good deal - TH350

Properly built, dual bolt pattern, 200R4. Lots of folks built T350s 'back in the day', but not a lot built them very well.

    Saganaw Manual Steering Gear Box

I've heard of the Corvair folks making a 50/50 mix of a gear oil and Lubriplate because of the mystery GM left us with. It's not a demanding application, just don't want it too stiff when cold or to leak out on what are now, pretty old gear boxes. Not a perfect or the best answer.

    Rear Exhaust Manifold Removal

As I am familiar with the platform, and having pulled the rear manifold from a 3300 (the little brother with no EGR) even with the engine rolled back (collision) in a A-body, I would think it to be easier than it might look. View with manifold removed. It was tight pulling it out the top on...

Brake fluid (dot 3) in the transmission

An old trick to swell/soften seals. It may swell more than you want. The old timer that told me this as well said to change the fluid before it swells 'too much'. I don't quite know how to quantify that.
