Max A/C = closed heater core valve

Full size GM 'B-Bodies' did that from at least '77-90.

Volkswagen Beetle. A classic car on a budget?

I love the unique features of the '68. My folks bought a '68 427/390 coupe new. Yellow, manual steering and brakes, but it did have the AM/FM too!

Volkswagen Beetle. A classic car on a budget?

    Beautiful! Which 427? I'll guess 390 horsepower?

    2018 GMC Sierra 1500 5.3L Battery Question

Same setup still on the 2019 Yukon Denali. I am currently adding a hot lead at the unused position. I really don't like the setup near the engine heat, when there is still room (and even what looks like the battery base stamping) at the front left corner. If the intake air/filter box was...

    GMC 1500 alternator problem

Yep, one of the 3 diodes is shorted from the stator is shorted (if remember the schematic correctly). Exactly what mine did. I took a look at it and was not impressed, throw away junk IMO. I used to repair the 10SI/12SI units.

    GMC 1500 alternator problem

I've had a rectifier diode short inside the original CS130 series alternator (1996 car). It was red hot and squeeling, no indicator light issue. They are not particularly good series of alternators.

    Sighting-Corvair Sedan

Unfortunately, all Corvair cars came with 13" wheels. The Corvair trucks all came with 14" wheels. No styled wheels for either.

    Sighting-Corvair Sedan

That is a 1965, the first year of the 'late' design ('65-'69). Only coupes and convertibles were sold in '68-'69. Had the car survived, GM was faced with changing the engine. Being air cooled was a nightmare for emissions. They had already dropped factory A/C for the last 2 model years because...

    2018 Escalade A/C clutch relay

That's good. They claim that failure was fixed for your 2018 (I have a 2019), but I'm a little skeptical.

    2018 Escalade A/C clutch relay

A static pressure reading does not indicate charge quantity. Look at the driver's side top of the condenser and see if it happens to be oily.

EGR code 32 on my 1991 Grand Am 2.5L

Exhaust passage through the head, apparently. I've never had a Duke/Tech VI. A coat hanger and a vacuum if the ports are blocked. I've only seen them clog on the intake side myself.

EGR code 32 on my 1991 Grand Am 2.5L

Negative backpressure, ruptured diaphragm as you already diagnosed. I believe some of the aftermarket replacements are serviced by non-backpressure units.

EGR code 32 on my 1991 Grand Am 2.5L

Not if it is a positive back pressure EGR valve. GM began using positive and negative back pressure EGR valves back when still using carburetors to control EGR flow. Does it have an N or P at the beginning or end of the part number on the top side of the valve?

AC shaft seal leak - Replace compressor or seal?

I've done 70s-90s GMs (A6s-R4s) with the newer, double lip seal. I don't necessarily recommend it either, but I wasn't about to scrap a good, quiet R4 over leakage. Even new ones are a crap shoot, since it was a mediocre design to start with.

Shopping For 2016 Yukon Denali XL - Any Major Problems?

I believe they are 2014 to 2020. I have a 2019 Yukon Denali (not XL) and love it (6.2L 10 speed). Others have far more transmission knowledge and experience than I will ever have, but I believe the 8 speed is to be avoided. There is an A/C condenser issue (refrigerant loss, oily spot, top right...

Cars 5 years old or less Roll Call

I've got a 2019 Yukon Denali (17K miles) and a 2020 Kia Forte (32K miles), besides my 1978-1996 fleet. The GM oil life monitor has amazed me!

A/C compressor parts diagrams and rebuild parts

Now that I looked up the ION to see what it used, it looks like a GM V5 compressor. It is leaking a the main body o-ring?

Reatta rear light bar: 14 bulbs replaced!

I can feel your pain. Even the owners manual said to take it to the dealer for bulb replacement on the sedans (Wagons were easy). These have a bulb count of 15 (17 with the high mounted stop light), a lot of 194s. Quite an assembly when it is out.

    Some internal pics over time

Back at it again, though I am sure getting slower. Now at almost 259K miles. The front valve cover was leaking and marking up my driveway, and it had a leaking thermostat gasket. Decided to do it all at once. Wouldn't have needed to remove the alternator, if I hadn't broken both my 15mm flex...

Crooked dealer and a sick f350.

I expected to hate the Ford designed 10 speed in my 2019 6.2L Yukon Denali, but have been thoroughly impressed with it (so far). It certainly shifts quickly and smoothly, especially compared to my E4OD, 4L60 or 4T60E.
