Quick look: a Mevotech sway bar end link vs. Toyota OEM (1 year vs 10 year)

Yes, the Bilsteins are part of the Bilstein B12 kit (it comes with Eibach pro-kit springs and Bilstein B8 dampers) They ride FIRM but sticks to the road.. like glue..

Quick look: a Mevotech sway bar end link vs. Toyota OEM (1 year vs 10 year)

I guess the point is: the Mevotechs are rusting very badly.... after a little over 1 year vs the Toyota OEMs after 10 years note to self: get MOOG's next time. Maybe I should pre-emptively replace them with MOOG's. In a few years, I might not be able to get them off at all.......

Quick look: a Mevotech sway bar end link vs. Toyota OEM (1 year vs 10 year)

So here we have a Mevotech sway bar end link for the 2007 Corolla, installed just a little over a year ago, notice the nasty rust. Here we have the Toyota OEM sway bar end link: exactly the same car, same location, same driving conditions, same weather. These were on the car for 10...

Do wider tires increase that feeling of 'stability?' how does it affect steering? (We're talking 175/65R15 vs. 195/60R15)

This is for a 2012 Honda Fit which came stock with 175/65R15 tires on a 15x5.5 steel wheel (with wheel covers, of course!) I have since replaced the wheel with an alloy aftermarket wheel (Konig Helium 15x6.5 size) on those same tires. I wonder if go wider promotes that feeling of 'stability'...

If you live in the rust belt, do you travel outside of it for your used vehicles? (Because they're rust-free)

I haven't really heard about this phenomenon (if it really exist to any meaningful extent.) I guess the geographical barriers and DMV laws are really what makes the used car market basically.. local. Is this correct? Are there a lot of ppl who will travel outside of the rust belt for their...

Using JB Weld to (temporarily) re-attach a snapped CV drive axle (your thoughts?)

Thanks for the support, I will give it a shot-----though this towing company (well reviewed on Yelp and Google) doesn't have a physical address (just a phone number) and I paid cash with no receipt. I'll give it a shot anyway. Thanks to everyone, for the advice and support.

Using JB Weld to (temporarily) re-attach a snapped CV drive axle (your thoughts?)

UPDATE: So, I had the car towed to the local Honda dealership. As expected they were very busy, there are regular people driving in who have to wait some half an hour just to check in, then more waiting to speak to the service advisor. In my case, checking in was quicker since I was a special...

Using JB Weld to (temporarily) re-attach a snapped CV drive axle (your thoughts?)

My appointment with Honda dealership is on Tuesday, I'm told that I can have it towed to them earlier but that they wouldn't work on it until Tuesday. No special provision will be made for me just because the accident/incident that this recall was meant to prevent----did in fact HAPPEN. I'll...

Using JB Weld to (temporarily) re-attach a snapped CV drive axle (your thoughts?)

You know what, this wouldn't work. The JB WELD with that pipe coupling could hold vertical forces, but wouldn't prevent the forces pushing outward, horizontally. Idea, abandoned.

Using JB Weld to (temporarily) re-attach a snapped CV drive axle (your thoughts?)

Yes, the tow strap is that other idea I am strongly considering: with some care and the help of a friend, it might work.

Using JB Weld to (temporarily) re-attach a snapped CV drive axle (your thoughts?)

Basically.. it's unavailable. The situation may have eaesd in the next few days though, as more cars are removed over time from the road and the tow trucks become available again.

Using JB Weld to (temporarily) re-attach a snapped CV drive axle (your thoughts?)

The boot has to be removed, I believe I can just pull it out with a little bit of force, otherwise I'll have to cut it. That boot is a harmonic balancer, which most Honda's come with (for perhaps disputed reasons, aftermarket CV axles dont have this balancer unit.)

Using JB Weld to (temporarily) re-attach a snapped CV drive axle (your thoughts?)

https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/619JdrAyiML._SL1000_.jpg ^this is a pipe coupler.. Were I to do this: I would fill this coupler with JB Weld, then use this to encase the repair (for extra re-enforcement)

Using JB Weld to (temporarily) re-attach a snapped CV drive axle (your thoughts?)

If I were to do this: here's how I can test if JB WELD can handle some degree of torque. 1. set the parking brake. 2. put the car in drive, then put it in reverse. 3. still good? now add some torque but not too much to snap the axle again. If it's able to handle a small degree of torque, I...

Using JB Weld to (temporarily) re-attach a snapped CV drive axle (your thoughts?)

observe the angle of the breakage, u think if i JB Weld this, it would hold for 1.5 miles at 5mph ???

Using JB Weld to (temporarily) re-attach a snapped CV drive axle (your thoughts?)

Actually, could this work if it's REINFORCED with steel clamps?? Again, the trip to the Honda dealership is only 1.5 miles away.. creeping very slowly Might be worth a try? Perhaps I can test initially by gently going forward and reverse and then braking with some power. Remember: the CV axle...
