PUP 0w40 in 5.7L HEMI that will see some "mild" track use.

Hello all, Curious to get some opinions on this. I have a 2014 5.7L HEMI in a Ram 1500. It's going to be getting a 93 Octane tune soon, and ill probably do some drag runs at the track in Nov. Engine internals are stock, bolt on mods only. I've been running Schaeffer's 5w20 with good results...

Apple Saying Goodbye to Intel Processors

It's unlikely that they will do away with Intel CPUs in the Pro line for a while due to software. The Air is likely to get a Arm CPU, and they have been gearing up for that for a while now with the new architecture used on the new boards (T2 chip replacing the SMC and PCH). The first couple...

    5.7 L Hemi (79K) Shaeffers 9000 6000 miles

Lot of high RPMs too in this run. Didn't seem to mind it at all. Side note, that add pack in the shaeffers looks great. 320 ppm of moly + boron and titanium.

New Hemi owner, new oil decisions

These engines seem to like oils with high moly. Pennzoil ultra is a decent choice, but it only has 80-90PPM of moly. Redline is loaded, but isn't API certified and the dealer could give you crap if anything breaks. Shaeffers 9000 has around 250-300 PPM of moly and is API certified and...

    Oil to Combat Fuel Dilution

Try 0w30, and have it analysed. See what the viscosity is and how much it sheared. If it is still within range of a 0w20 or 0w30 you should be good, If it sheared too much for your liking, id go up to a 0w40.

Help me rest my mind guys PLEASE .

It's fine. The thinner oils are generally for CAFE standards, and for proper VCT operation. Could the sluggishness be from the oil being slightly too thick for the VCT phasers? Possibly. Are you going to hurt anything by using 5w30? Absolutely not. With that being said, for that engine, if you...

    Who has gone Mobil 1?

It's ok. I have used it a couple vehicles. It is a noisy oil compared to others. I prefer pennzoil platinum over it, but if M1 is on sale that is fine.

Going to pull the valve covers and have a look soon. Need to make time for it. I've been considering just running it and getting something new as well.... we'll see. If i dont find anything under the valve covers and if the timing chains still look good and have no slack, im probably just going...
