Which oil for 2003 Chevrolet Corvette?

Help me understand here...did you say "cheapest" and "Euro" in a same sentence? :) Joking aside, I take the same approach (i.e., "cheapest Euro" which happens to be M1 or Castrol so far for xW 40.....especially during a rebate period.

    Post your latest oil change

2005 Porsche Boxster 2.7 @ 81,200 miles (OCI = 1 year / 5-6k miles). Out: M1 0w-40 In: Castrol 5W-40 with LiquiMoly MoS2 (a feeble attempt to prevent the infamous bore scoring issue) w Hengst E14HD77 Drain Plug: Votex magnetic drain plug No drama with very minor, typical metal dust particles...

Which oil for 2003 Chevrolet Corvette?

As other folks indicated, don't change anything if you do not have any issues. I personally don't think there are "significant" difference between "regular" vs. HM (I go back and forth between the two for our two daily cars). Does your manual indicate xW-40 or above? For your reference: 1...

Frugal choice for 5k OCIs on 5.4 3v

Agreed..used Kirkland in the past when I didn't stock up. Wouldnt hesitate to use SuperTech (I think they are the same ones from Warren, including Amazon). Oh, except for our Subaru Outback - seemed to burn Kirkland and M1 more than other brands.

Frugal choice for 5k OCIs on 5.4 3v

If you stock up during rebate period(s) - e.g., now for Pennzoil - not sure you can get more frugal :) For example, less than $60 bucks (w tax) for 2 jugs at Walmart MINUS $25 rebate =$35 ($17.5 a jug which is cheaper than Kirkland / SuperTech). As usual, I am sure M1 and/or Castrol (even...

Free oil change on Dealer !! good or bad ??

I am not concerned with the dealer oil at all. HOWEVER, I did personally experienced TWO instances of dealers over-torquing drain bolts (during "Free / CPO" period). One time, I just couldn't unscrew it so paid the dealer to do it and told them to replace the stripped drain bolt (and charged...

Gifted some Pennzoil Platinum High Mileage 0w-20. Ok to mix with my non high mileage oil?

Late to the party here...my last Subaru OB "cocktail" was Pennzoil 0w 20 HM + Castrol 10W 30 + Mobil 1 0W40...mostly 0W20 but needed to get rid of those leftovers. I have noticed 250HP gain and aero coefficient improvement.

Is buying Oil on Amazon safe?

I usually buy at Walmart as it is close or also delivers. I once bought 2 jugs of Castrol on Amazon and they were never delivered although the status says "shipped" for weeks. I guess I made a mistake of picking a third party vendor instead of fulfilled by Amazon. Got refund and don't plan to...

    "Best" FCPEuro A40 / C40 Oil

I was about to post the same....the "Best One" for me is the ones on sale / rebate (Mobil 1 last time, Castrol this time). Oh, I cover the label so that my car doesn't know the brand :)

    Post your latest oil change

2015 Subaru Outback 2.5 (with Fumoto) Out: @100K, PP 5W 30 with WIX (been using 5W 30 last few OCI instead of 0w 20 due to oil burning) In: @105.5K "Minor" Franken Brew of PP 0w 20 (4.2 qt), Castrol 10W 30 (0.4), M1 0W 40 (0.5) with WIX - wanted to get rid of leftovers

    My worst oil change ever

(Amongst numerous "over-torqued" drain plugs I have experienced) Back in 2021, my friend's brand new Subaru Forrester. Got his first oil change for "free" from the dealer (of purchase). For his second oil change (at my house), we tried over 2 hours to loosen the drain plug (with various...

Would you use 0W30 instead of 0W20?

For our Subie OB, switched from factory-recommended 0w 20 to 5w 30 mostly due to oil burning. The engine has not blown up :) In fact, the Japanese manual (for the same engine / car) indicates upto 40 weight oil. Did someone say CAFE?? ;-)

Oil change interval with low mileage

As others indicated , you are perfectly fine with 1 year OCI - in fact, more than fine. If I had a car with less than 1000, then I would even stretch to more than 2+ years without a doubt. On a side note, an older (e.g., 2005 - 2007) Porsche manual says "2 years / 20,000 miles" as the OCI (they...

Amsoil Severe Gear 75W90 vs Mobil Delvac 75W90?

You are probably looking at Summit Racing site (as I have in the past :) )..for what it is worth, I think getting the 1 L / Qtr bottles may be better (slightly cheaper but you can keep the "unopened" ones a bit more fresh). FYI (and you probably know this already), I found more metal shavings...

Amsoil Severe Gear 75W90 vs Mobil Delvac 75W90?

My two cents - if you are going to change often (e.g., every 2 years or less) then a cheaper one. For what it's worth, I think M1 DelVac is a factory fill for Porsche 911 GT3 (manual)...and I am assuming your diffs call for GL5 without LSD.

is Pennzoil Platinum still the favorite?

Like some folks posted, my go-to oils are "whatever is on sale / rebate" - have jugs of PP, M1 and Castrol in our garage. I only used Redline for my manual tranny.

post your latest transmission lubricant change.

2005 Porsche Boxster 2.7 (MT5) @ 78,350 mi (OEM recommended interval = 12 years / 120K) Out: unknown (got the car back in Apr) but the drained fluid looked "ok" In: Redline 75W90 NS (2.4 qrt) Luckily, my buddy had a 16mm triple square w anti temper bit (for both fill and drain bolts) so didn't...

Could anyone run a carfax for a vehicle I am looking at?

For what it is worth, try this: 1. download mycarfax app - I use this to keep track of my maintenance history (and I know the data is being share but I dont mind) 2. register the vehicle using its VIN 3. you may be able to see the history (then delete the car) However, note that the carfax...

    Oil recommendations for Subaru 2.4T

For our Gen 5 OB, I now use 5W 30 instead of 0W20 (and Suabru Japanese manual specifies various viscosity from 20 weight to 40). However, for current Gen, the Japanese manual only indicates 16 - 20 weight oils....YMMV.
