    Gumout Regane Vs. Chevron Techron

I had wondered if that might have been the case. My apologies to Molecule.

Which oil filter for my Honda Fit, from RockAuto?

I agree.....the Luber-Finer 6607 sized filters I bought seemed identical to the Walmart Supertech versions which are $3.87 each and seem to be good quality. After re-reading the post I quoted....I was agreeing on buying the Luber-Finer filters but I'm not sure I'd go 2 OCIs on them. I have run...

    Gumout Regane Vs. Chevron Techron

It's in "Fuel and Fuel Additives: Gasoline and Diesel". Isn't that the correct forum? As far as the OP's question I usually use Regane over Techron because of the as mentioned lower price to treat my 15 gallon tank.

AGAIN...what's the 'best' engine oil for me?

Agreed....I'd probably run a Euro 5w30 like Mobil ESP, Pennzoil Euro or Castrol Euro if that were my Raptor but your suggestions are also dead on IMO.

Back down this road again: 0w-20 Civic 2.0 NA highway commuter car

I wonder how a new Corvette (which isn't tracked or beaten on) would fare using off the shelf 0w40 or 5w40 oils like Mobil 1, Castrol, Pennzoil etc... ?

Back down this road again: 0w-20 Civic 2.0 NA highway commuter car

I Agree. At a 6500 mile OCI of mostly highway miles I would be fine using any synthetic 0w20 on the shelf at Walmart including Supertech. That 2.0 NA Honda engine will run nearly forever on any of them.

'26 Escape Can't Be Sold in 6 States

Our 2016 Escape with the 2.5 engine has been extremely reliable. I purposely bought one with the 2.5 over the Ecoboosts and I'm glad I did. As far as why they would dump a reasonably priced vehicle....it seems to be a 'management move' with the domestic makers. GM dropped the Chevy Cruze just...

Mazda 3 Mahle [ 2.75 in tall, chinese] filter cut open with Pics. Switch to a Hyundai filter?

I ran a Hyundai spec'd (9688) filter for one OCI on our Mazda CX-30 without issues but maybe I was just lucky. There is a BITOG member who runs the 9688 filter in his Mazda (I don't recall his name right now) so I tried it because I had the Hyundai filter from our sold Elantra. I do agree that...

    2018 Mazda 3 Trans Service

I'm pretty sure the 2012 Mazda 5 used the MZR 2.5 engine and not the Skyactive 2.5 (I just Googled it and now I'm sure it used the MZR). Both are excellent, long lived engines but I don't think Mazda called for FZ ATF in that model.

    '21 Sienna 2.5l hybrid 202k mi; PU 0w-20 4.6k mi

I'm sure there are many Sienna Hybrid owners (as well as Camry and RAV4 Hybrids which use that same engine if I'm not mistaken) who never get an oil analysis and just bring it in to Toyota, Jiffy Lube etc...every 5K. They don't know anything about 'fuel dilution' and will probably sell their...

    Star-Tron Ring Clean+

I would think I'd use more than an ounce per 10 gallons of gas. I'd probably use half the bottle for 2 consecutive oil changes on my 15 gallon gas tank....then do an oil change. It contains PEA so it shouldn't be 'snake oil'.

    Star-Tron Ring Clean+

I saw this product at Walmart...the 8 oz. bottle for $10.48 claims to treat 80 gallons of fuel (1 oz. per 10 gallons of gasoline). It is marketed as a 'Marine Motor Treatment' but should do the same in automotive engines. It claims to contain PEA and enzymes and gets many positive reviews. Has...

Bought my son his first car: 2006 G35X sedan. Questions...

I agree on the 40W oil from what I've seen of UOAs on that engine.....which is a great engine BTW.

Valvoline oils: which do you like or prefer?

I joined BITOG a couple of years after you and back then Valvoline was panned for it's lack of additives. Later versions were criticized for using sodium in high amounts. For those reasons it was never high on my list of desirable oils to run. These recent Valvoline products really do seem...

    Mobil EP Vs Valvoline EP

The Mobil EP is marketed as a long drain oil but I don't believe the Valvoline EP is. If I were going further than 7500 miles on an OCI I'd feel better using the Mobil EP. .

    2023 Mazda CX-9 Sparkplugs

That's interesting. I've already purchased NGK Ruthenium plugs to install in our CX -30 when it hits about 80K (currently at about 72K). I'll tell my daughter to note any difference in MPG, drivability etc....Do you by chance know the 'resistance' of the Ruthenium plugs?

What’s going on with Quaker State Ultimate Protection?

I'm not a 'gambling man' nor do I fall for marketing hype...but...which such little difference in price between it and QSFS....I'll risk that SOPUS is getting over on me....just in case circumstances force me to go over my 7K OCI max.

    Tires choices for Ford Edge

I put a set of Milestar MS932s on my Focus and they were so-so....they handled decently but didn't last nearly as long as rated (IIRC they were wearing down by 20k with rotations). One of the four must have had a belt slip as it wore badly on the inside despite an alignment showing all was...

Analysis: PEA in different cleaners (Techron, Archoil, Oilsyn, Pro-Tec)

Is Regane 'CFSC' the small (6 oz. I think) bottle (which is what I use). I know the 'All in One' is more concentrated but my gas tanks are 12 and 15 gallons so I go with the small bottle. Amazon has the high mileage Regane for $30 for the case of 6....it's supposed to have more PEA than the...

    Valvoline Restore & Protect

I'm surprised that somebody or some competitor hasn't 'reverse engineered' VRP to find out what the magical cleaner is. My engines always look spotless (through the oil fill hole) using a variety of synthetics available at WM so I'm in no rush to use VRP but if I bought a used vehicle that...
