    Complaint about aftermarket parts

So you just confirmed - your speculating. You might pay 3X the price and get the same thing. Or not? So its the perfect BITOG topic - we can argue it forever. People compare the denso they got today from the one they took out and there different. But if they ordered from the OEM it might...

    2026 model year changes?

The current Rav4 has always had some models with S/S and some without - which was odd. It seemed they had calculated how many models they needed to get to their CAFE requirement. So it would be pretty easy for them to just delete all of them. However its a new model year in 2026 and rumor has...

    Complaint about aftermarket parts

I have been in many tier supply plants but mostly Euro and Asian, and I haven't seen a discernable difference. A lot of them make parts for everyone - Bosch, Denso, Hitachi, siemens - for example. For any of them the part you get now might not be the same as the part you got 20 years ago...

How to identify a Continental brand serpentine belt?

Yep, 1/3 the price of local brick and mortar is worth the trouble if you don't need it immediately. I ordered ball joints from Parts Geek. They shipped from World-pac. One was used. If I had ordered from World-pac for twice the price would they have checked the box for me. I doubt it?

How to identify a Continental brand serpentine belt?

what was the return address on the package. That will at least tell you from what parts warehouse it shipped. At minimum it should have some part numbers on it. I can't think of any legitimate belt company that doesn't print something on the backing. Of course I had two huge issues with...

    Fererro buying Kellogg

Modal for the boomer generation is 1957, which is right around TV dinner and KD time, and fast food really took off right about the time they became adults in the late 70's / early 80's. So maybe the TV dinner lead to McDonalds? Don't know. I am squarely in Gen X and I ate lots of KD...

New Dodge Hornets selling well below MSRP- worth consideration??

I bought my Xterra (first new car, I had previously only bought used) because they were offering below invoice plus $3500 in rebates back in 2008. Otherwise I would likely have bought another used Jeep GC. Its in my sig. 414K miles later, it wasn't a good deal, it was a great deal.

    Complaint about aftermarket parts

It used to be a customer service thing - you would call and they would just send you one. That doesn't happen anymore but a few places. I was at IKEA once and I noticed over by their returns desk they had a whole wall of different fasteners and such. You could just go take what you needed, if...

    Complaint about aftermarket parts

Buy a new one. Take the boot off. Return it. The next guy that gets that part from Parts Geek will hate you, but I can assure you others have done it before. And yes, its an accounting thing per @Rust_Belt_Pete. I had to beg our factory in Germany for some 15 cent screws a customer needed...

Tallest building in Oregon sold for pennies on the dollar.

THis article from NPR more or less says St. Louis did it to themselves. If NPR says that, it must be worse than we thought. https://www.stlpr.org/news-briefs/2025-05-16/st-louis-city-population-loss-faster-2020-2024

Progressive car insurance, found a way to lower rates

I think they all do this. Did they raise it a reasonable amount the time before and you paid it? I think there algorithm just keeps upping it. 3% this time, 5% next time, 11% the time after.

    Complaint about aftermarket parts

I have gotten the wrong part from the dealer. The catalog was wrong there too. I worked in a GM dealer as a kid and lots of parts were wrong there also, especially on vehicles built very late in the model year or very early in the next. I am not defending anyone, but OEM is far from perfect...

    Complaint about aftermarket parts

If we only had OEM parts available, we would all be driving much newer cars because the old ones would be unfixable and crushed. A single aftermarket supplier sent the wrong part obviously and you blast the whole industry. Your painting with too broad a brush. If you ever have to buy a part...

Yes excellent point. I have been to Gary, not that long ago, the Gary Works is still going, but its not the center of the steel industry it was all those years ago. Everyone that works there commutes in. No one I met actually lives in Gary. St. Louis used to be the gateway to the West, but...

Package damaged and discarded, has this happened to any one else?

If there is a shipping department where you work go talk to the people there. All the carriers constantly deliver to the wrong place. You might receive 50 packages, one is not yours, and one you were supposed to have gotten is not there. How this happens with their supposed scanning is beyond...
