Synthetic Oil Brand and Weight for Powerstroke 6.7 HO

How quickly this turned into a Brotella thread. One Mobil product that seems to be overlooked is Delvac-1 SCH 5w40. It’s old school with a base number of 16 and SA of 1.9

Correct Gear Oil Ford 10.25 Rear with OEM 10.5 E Locker

80w140 synthetic might be easier for you to find. That’s what I’m putting in my son’s new 2012 F350 6.2L.

It sounds like a weasel got in the hen house again.

Synthetic Oil Brand and Weight for Powerstroke 6.7 HO

Because some CK-4s have reduced phosphorus and corresponding ZDDP than the F-1 specifies as a minimum. In Canada, Duron is an option to Rotella and so is Turbo Diesel Truck Delvac 5w40. Case in point, last month I bought a five gallon pail of Delvac 1300 Super 15w40 for $78 Canadian$, which...

Why Do Knowledgeable Folks on Here use 20 wt Oil

There must be something else you can look at on the internet. What I’ve learned from this thread is friends don’t let friends use XW20. Case closed. No tickee ,no laundry.

disappointed with 2019 GM 5.3L truck; problems

Long story short, don’t buy a 1500 for work truck duty. That’s what 2500s and 3500s are for.

I would never tell a neighbour I was going to Wally. Canadian Tire maybe.

Why Do Knowledgeable Folks on Here use 20 wt Oil

I know, it’s crazy when I can save the same amount of fuel by dimming the dash lights instead of running a thinner engine oil.

    Post your last tire/wheel purchase

Wheels only for my son’s new 2012 F350. Fast wheels HD Traxx 20x10 -15mm offset. Tires will come off my 20x10 8x180 bolt pattern wheels, Toyo CTs 295/65R20 with 16,000 kms on them. First Ford truck in the family, which just shows to go ya, never say never.

Mixing Differential fluids 75W-90 and 75W-110

The video stated that they ran the diff at 3,000 rpm. Assuming a 4:1 gear ratio and a 100 inch od tire, that’s about 71 mph. One of my trucks, a 2011 Duramax, has averaged 37 mph since new, most of it with 80w140. The 85w140 in the video is quite a bit thicker, and as a result will warm up faster.

Why Do Knowledgeable Folks on Here use 20 wt Oil

The notion of an engine oil viscosity rule is absurd. “We won’t know who the winner is until the UOA lab results arrive a month from now.”

Mixing Differential fluids 75W-90 and 75W-110

That depends if you have commercial accounts at bulk lubricants distributors or not. I paid $160 Canadian for a 20L pail of 80w140 about 18 months ago. Multiply that X70% for USD.

Mixing Differential fluids 75W-90 and 75W-110

Close enough logic for me. The last three pails of GL5 I bought were 80w140 for use in a 3500 Ram, two Duramax HD 4x4s, 1500 SLT, 2014 Escape and two GM 2500s the railway owned. Two times Delo and one Petro-Can. I’m grabbing another pail of 80w140 for a 2012 F350 with the 6.2 gas engine my son...

Mixing Differential fluids 75W-90 and 75W-110

Right, and 75WXX is good to 40 below. Colder than that I’m staying in bed. The pds pour point and lubricant channel point is pretty much the same thing. So if you want to know the cold limit of a gear lube, look at the pour point for a close guess.

Why Do Knowledgeable Folks on Here use 20 wt Oil

The oil has to be thicker than necessary, because if it was thinner than necessary once, the engine would squeak to a stop.

Why Do Knowledgeable Folks on Here use 20 wt Oil

Two stroke oil/fuel ratios have more to do with rpm than load. I have 3 Husqvarna XP chainsaws and a 35cc weed whacker that run over 10,000 rpm. Same goes for small two stroke dirt bikes, while an outboard boat motor might see 5,500 rpm. I run the high rpm critters at 28-32:1
