    Dipstick Oil Level Reading

The oil on the dipstick is smearing inside the tube when you pull it out. This is why the reading is messed up. My 4Runner was really bad at this smearing. To get a good reading (even on the first reading), I'd have to pull the dipstick, wait a few minutes for the oil to drain out of the tube...

    2025 Camry Test Drive Review

I remember looking at new Camrys before the pandemic (2019). The window sticker in a nicely optioned SE was about $27K. From Google: The 2019 Toyota Camry's price depended on the trim level and options, starting at $25,050 and going up to $30,680: L: $25,050 LE: $25,555 SE: $26,755 XLE...

My 2007 Accord with 666,800 miles (Valvetrain Shots)

I would keep the title in the glove box. If it dies on you somewhere, call the junk yard to pick it up, sign it over and walk away.

How can I heat my tool boxes affordably?

What about getting some heating pads from the pet store? The ones used for reptiles are thin vinyl/plastic mats that can slip inside the drawers of the toolbox. Place them in the bottom of the drawers and put your wrenches and sockets on top of the mats. You can turn them on when you get to the...

Any Real evidence for Stabil 360 Marine?

You're probably better off buying the smaller bottle.

Any Real evidence for Stabil 360 Marine?

I haven't had any problems using the Stabil 360 Marine. It takes me more than two years to use a bottle (probably closer to three). I seal the cap on tight and put the bottle in a ziplock bag for extra protection. I imagine that some component of it will eventually evaporate away, but it...

Found old 2stroke oil how to dispose of.

I pour old garage find oil like that in my oil bin and recycle it. The 2-cycle oil I would mix a little into gas cans and burn it in my mower and generator. 1oz to 5 gal of gas (640:1) along with some Stabil works great to prevent corrosion in tanks and carbs all year and over the winter. OR...

    2021 BMW F750 GS - Good Oil?

Good choice. People love the Rotella 5W-40 in motorcycles for some reason. My experience with it was unsatisfactory. Clunky shifting after only 1500 miles. Drained it out and went back to Mobil 1 and Valvoline, no more shifting problems. It should work fine in a generator and lawn mower.

What's better for storage - Sta-Bil or seafoam?

Yes. 10 years ago, I had a bottle of the red Stabil form crystals in it. I have read a number of cases on motorcycle forums where they had to clean red crystals out of carbs to get the engines running again. The motorcycle people recommended against using then basic red stabil formula. These...

People saying to change your oil at 1000 miles on new vehicle.

On both of my current motorcycles, I did initial 100 mile oil changes. Both had a lot of glitter in the oil. I then did 600 mile oil changes and there was more glitter in the oil. I then did the next oil changes at around 2500-ish miles on the odometer and the oil had minimal or no glitter...

People saying to change your oil at 1000 miles on new vehicle.

Yep. All of my motorcycles called for an early oil change. The two Hondas currently in my garage specifically call for a 600 mile oil and filter change, then every 8000 miles / 12 months after that.

    New Car Color Options

Well, maybe "incentives" is probably the wrong word to use. In the US, manufacturers must report the number of cars and configurations of the cars they make to comply with CAFE regulations. Among the data reported, car color, lighting packages, and other interesting items that contribute to the...

    New Car Color Options

There are also government incentives to produce White / Silver / Gray cars. They heat up less in the sun and require less running of the air conditioner to cool down before people drive them. It's an energy savings incentive.

    Fram TG7317 C&P

I do this all the time. I pour in the last of the open jug, then fill the rest of the way with the new jug. Usually it is the same brand, but occasionally it is different brands.

    Generator oil?

What does it say in the owner's manual? 10w-30 is usually a good place to start for general use, and is what I run in my generators and lawn mower. Cold winters may require a 0W-30 or 5W-30. My 4000W/8HP generator was a bear to pull over in the winter with 10W-30. Hot summers in the south...

    Generator 25 hr OCI, really?

Both of my Honda generators spec an early oil change at 20hrs and then 100hrs thereafter. I changed oil early and often over the first 50hrs of use. Now I change it every few years, depending on use. I haven't had to use them for an extended period yet (knock on wood). I also added a magnetic...

Winterization...to drain or not to drain?

Get a small solar panel. That should be enough to run a small fan to circulate some air inside.

Reusing oil, a thought that crossed my mind.

Not worth the hassle. Moneywise, you are probably even just running it a full 10K in the one engine. Do the math on changing two engines at 5K and again at 10K vs just running both engines for 10K on HPL.

Dangers of low viscosity oils a problem waiting to happen?

Sure, it kinda seems that way. You can see an obvious change from older engines to newer engines by looking at the connecting rods. Older engines had smaller crank bearings (with the caps cut at 90 degrees from the rod). New connecting rods have larger diameter crank bearings and the caps are...

What mineral oil should i use during break-in process?

Special oil is not needed. Just use what you would normally use for an oil change. Use an oil that is compatible with what is described in your owners manual. I do an oil change at 500 or 1000 miles on my new engines with synthetic oil. Is it necessary to do it in a car engine? Probably not...
