    I should also mention (and sorry for the multiple followups, but I can't for the life of me see how to edit a post here) that I haven't used any fuel additives. The engine does get worked reasonably hard however, and has seen the rev limiter half a dozen times.

    75w85 GL5???

    Is anyone aware of a commercially available synthetic 75w85 GL5? This is the oil spec'd for the diffential in my Lexus (aka Toyota). If not, does anyone have any idea if Lexus/Toyota dealers make the standard 75/85 available to customers?

    Don't worry about the consumption. A quart in 5000 miles is hardly worrisome. I ate about that in my WRX while running 5w30. It's dropped to half that with 10w30. But then, I run the **** out of mine as well
