GM now saying to use 0w40 in 21-24 6.2L

There is no viscosity or brand on the Carfax report, and if you show adequate oil change intervals in Carfax, nothing else matters for warranty oil change requirements. This has been legally tested many times.

Viscosity: Engine protection Vs. enhanced mileage

Do we have engine history on those running 0w-8 oil to say, 100k miles?

    Valvoline Restore & Protect

I doubt any vehicle can monitor the oil temp at the oil control ring on the piston. Which is where the problems today are created. I would think that the flashpoint of the oil would determine the carbon disposition there but I am not sure what temp has to be reached to form the carbon from oil...

    "Fuel Efficiency Standards Are Dead"

As happy as I am about this, manufacturers have a problem. It takes 3-5 years to get a new engine (or resurrect an old one ), so what happens if this changes again in the next election. Tough problem.

    Valvoline Restore & Protect

That's funny. Valvoline has a patent on oil that cleans carbon build-up. https://www.freepatentsonline.com/y2017/0029734.html

Valvoline Restore and Protect 1k mi; Kia 3.3L 85.1k mi

Sorry for the omission. It is a 5w-30 R&P and this was an interim test, still running the oil.

    Not another Valvoline R&P thread

I have a 2019 LX with 86,000 miles. I have been using Restore and Protect for the last 4 oil changes. It seems to be fine for the engine. I have read that some of these engines start using oil due to ring issues, and then it is a slow downhill until failure. Given the very few engine complaints...

    Valvoline R&P, 5w-30, 5k oci, Toyota 4.0L 1GRFE

It is interesting to see that even with the oft mentioned cleaning abilities, the VRP oil seems protective with low wear metals as well. A good everyday oil. Thanks for posting your results.

Can I Run Euro Oil for 2 Years with Very Low Mileage?

Like the cost of an oil change is so low it must drawf any storage garage cost so why no do it. Use a gas stabilizer, too.

    Valvoline Restore & Protect

I am on my 3rd round of R&P on a Kia v-6 with 85,000 miles. I have no visable oil usage at all between 3-4k mile oil changes, so running this a precaution. However, R&P was tested for this, which is the main reason we think it is special. I wonder if some of the others, like Pennzoil UP or a...

    Valvoline Restore and Protect - 2017 Hyundai 3.3 V6

One thing that may or may not mean anything - when you bring your own oil to Valvoline oil change center, they mark your oil change with a different code if you bring a Valvoline oil, "V-customer suppled" I think they are noticing.

    Valvoline Restore and Protect - 2017 Hyundai 3.3 V6

I have a 3.3L in a 2019 Kia Sedona, I dont seem to have the dipstick issue. Oil levels look the same if I measure it one day vs the next in the same spot. Also, at 85,000 miles have zero oil consumption at 3,000 mile oil changes. Very happy with my Kia but I would definately sell it when I saw...

    Not another Valvoline R&P thread

The 2019-2021 Kia Sedona is a reliable vehicle. Head bolt problems of 2016-2017 were fixed. Use something like Techron before every oil change, top tier fuel, (to reduce injector spray pattern issues and resulting carbon in combustion chamber) and severe service schedule (3,750 mi OCI). Use...
