Supertech and other value point oils

I rented a Toyota Camry, turbo engine, for a cross country trip. 48,000 miles on the odometer and 12k miles since its last oil change. I was sorely tempted to get an oil change, but resisted, and it survived. I understand the feeling. Also, will never buy a car used as a rental for this reason.

    Pennzoil Ultra Plat 0w-20, 3k mi; 2025 Ram 1500 V-6

The moly is a lot higher than the VOA, too. Not sure what to make of that. This jug purchased March 2025.

    Pennzoil Ultra Plat 0w-20, 3k mi; 2025 Ram 1500 V-6

Yeah well, it is a newer truck and this is the first UOA, short tripper, and I am new at this, so I wanted to see how it is doing at 3k before I go longer.

It was very good for that mileage! TBN good at over 2. Total wear metals only 1.72 per 1,000 miles. Normal is considered 5.00 per 1,000 miles.

    Supertech filters discontinued?

The OEM filters are the best buys now. Walmart carries the most popular Motorcraft, GM and MOPAR filters now.

Mopar warranty issues w/ 0w-40 non FCA MS-12633 certification

No, they will only look at oil change interval. They prefer it comes from Carfax or dealer computer. "recommended oil" is not the same as required oil. They give little value to receipts. They show you bought the oil, but don't show you installed the oil in the vehicle.

Viscosity: Engine protection Vs. enhanced mileage

Interesting. Now, I would change my oil to spec before I visited the dealer for my warranty repair.

Viscosity: Engine protection Vs. enhanced mileage

I have never heard of a warranty claim being rejected for oil type/brand/viscosity, but only oil change interval. Have I missed these cases?

Viscosity: Engine protection Vs. enhanced mileage

Warranty repairs start with dealer or Carfax OCI. They don't have a way of knowing brand/viscosity unless they take your manual receipts to them. They will then have to prove the viscosity or oil brand was the cause of the failure.

Oh, what would be that tool, if not UOA? I'm the curious type. Thanks.

Same Car Same Engine, Different Country Different Oil

A car that can run a zero weight oil is running at 40C a 69 mm2/s oil. Yet it can't run at the 40 weight @ 100 C, mm2/s of 12.9? That is absurd.

Viscosity: Engine protection Vs. enhanced mileage

I have a 1996 Chevrolet S-10 4.3L truck that has over 315,000 miles. It has always had 3k OCI. Probably unrelated.

GM now saying to use 0w40 in 21-24 6.2L

You can supply your own oil and filter for many carfax reporting oil change companies like Valvoline and Walmart, at a discount. I change my own oil but for the still in warranty cars, I make sure I go to a carfax reporting oil change place and bring my own oil and filter.

Super tech full synthetic HM versus Mobil1 HM 5w-30

Late reply, from a fellow LeSabre owner, get the Kirkland oil on sale for about $14 for 5 quarts. It happens twice a year like clockwork. Use OEM oil filter, and short OCI, and you are fine.

    Valvoline Restore & Protect

I am curious why NOACK, or evaporation loss, is an issue in this application. What am I missing?
