What is something you learned about your car after you owned it?

My manual transmssion 2014 Accord has a hill hold feature. I'm not sure if I like it or not.

$5K to $7K budget what to buy - CRV vs Rav 4 vs Element vs xB

I am nowhere near brave enough to buy an old German car. If I was rich I might lease a new one all the B58 cars are fantastic to drive.

$5K to $7K budget what to buy - CRV vs Rav 4 vs Element vs xB

Really? I'm scared of Kia/Hyundai. Will say my brother had a stupid looking Accent hatchback that ran for a long time . . .

    If CAFE/stringent fuel economy/emissions requirements didn't exist....would 0W-8/16/20 exist?

LOL nice chart and very true from my limited time on these fora. I think you could replace the "Mobil 1 0W40 in everything of course" to Mobil 1 ESP 0W30.

I'm open to those I'll keep an eye out. None currently anywhere near my remote location.

$5K to $7K budget what to buy - CRV vs Rav 4 vs Element vs xB

Made a mistake by selling my dad's 2012 CRV when he stopped driving it (old age). Now I realize he has a hard time getting in and out of my Accord 2 door and I'm thinking about buying an older but reliable compact SUV that's easy to get in and out of. Open to Mazda as well but not sure they...

    Post your odometer reading

My 2014 V6 Accord 2 door has 25,000 miles. Bought it a little over a year ago with 13,500. Was a little worried about how low the mileage had been with previous owners, but it seems to be in fine shape. Just did my 2nd oil change on it. Previously had Kirkland 0w20 switched over to Pennzoil...

Post your latest oil purchase or even filter.

2 jugs of Pennzoil Ultra Platinum 5w30. On sale for $34 each at Napa. Sent $30 rebate info to Pennzoil. Assuming no issues that’ll bring my out of pocket to $20 per jug or so. Seems like a good deal to me especially living on this rock.

Valvoline R&P, Honda K24, 250k miles, report on progress

It's probably just the transmission on the old ones. They just don't feel like they want to move. You have to really stick your foot in it to get it down shift once, I don't think I ever had my 2012 double downshift but I have a light foot.

Valvoline R&P, Honda K24, 250k miles, report on progress

Really? Something must have changed in the K24 tuning on the CRV's. I've driven all generations except the newest ones and they're great vehicles - but glacially slow.

Looking to buy a hatchback in the $5K to $10K price range

2nd gen CRV are amazing tanks I see so many of those still driving around. 2001-2006 I think. Look for the spare tire on the bsck gate. The 2007 to 2011 weren’t quite as well received.

Looking to buy a hatchback in the $5K to $10K price range

Up to 2014 they’re old fashioned K24’s with port injection and 5 speeds. 2015 and newer are direct injection and CVT.

    Post your latest oil change

Yup I think my climate and engine give me a wide berth of products I can use. I guess even a 10W30 would work but those seem rare these days. If my UOA comes back decent I might push my mileage to 6 or 7K. The maintenance minder probably would have hit zero around 8K.

    Post your latest oil change

2014 Accord Coupe manual transmission J35 V6 engine at 24,300 miles Miles since last change: 4980/just under 6 months. Maintenance minder was still at 40% but I feel better changing at 5K. Out: Kirkland 0w20 In: Pennzoil Ultra Platinum 5w30 Left Fram Ultra in place til next change Wanted to...

    2021 Sienna - Can I use 0w-20 permanently?

Oh interesting so you're saying the 2GR FSE is more reliable/better than the FKS? Pretty sure my '13 had the FSE. I guess the regular FE would be the least complicated so the most reliable.

    2021 Sienna - Can I use 0w-20 permanently?

You are a real fan of the 2GR's it seems. Can't blame you for that had a 2015 V6 Camry and a 2013 GS 350 - great engines for sure. Currently have a J35 V6 Accord and I'm switching to 5w30 my next oil change from 0w20. Will be interested to see if any difference is felt, negative or positive...

Is my car a short tripper?

I think I'm doing that. I guess the biggest question mark was exactly what kind of driving the original owner did. Only having 13,500 miles after almost 10 years means it either sat for a long time or drove short trips a lot. I bought from the 2nd owner who had it for 2 years. Plan on doing...
