My opinion is that 5000 mile OCI is excessive when Toyota recommends 10,000 miles and the engine in a hybrid only runs about 50% of the time.

I have seen many examples in the “Used oil analysis” forum here where the owner does oil analysis right from the first oil change and it usually takes 2 or 3 oil changes and about 10,000 to 15,000 miles for the metals (iron, copper and aluminum) to settle down at low levels.

Rather than removing the oil pan, I would just unbolt and remove the oil level pipe. Then replace with a new pipe #4 and new dipstick #11. Or have a shop do it for you. Like others have said, you need to be able to check the oil level!
