My engine oil looks almost transparent when the engine is at operating temp and it looks slightly dark when the engine is cold. What causes this? The oil additives are the ones responsible for this I guess. And also the dirt falls down in to the pan when the engine is cold. What are your thoughts?

Is there any proof that an Italian Tuneup is benefitial to an engine? Does it really reduces deposits on the combustion chamber and helps to reduce them also on the piston rings? Would you consider a 5 minute 3500 rpm run an italian tuneup?

I have a 01 Corolla with a 5 spd transmission and I would like to change the transmission oil, the owner´s manual calls for a 75w90 GL4 oil and I can only find a 80w90 GL4 and a 75w90 GL5, I have read that GL5 should not be used in transmissions that call for GL4 oil so my only option is 80w90...
