    WOT Driving and Engine Wear

I recently started a post asking if an Italian Tune Up is really benefitial for a engine, I got answers from various people saying how hard you have to drive the car for it to be benefitial and to be called a ITU, but this reports were a little confusing for me because they went against my...

I´m starting TCW3 Oil in my fuel

I used the TCW3 2 Cycle Oil for 1400 miles, the engine seemed to like the 450:1 ratio, after that distance I decided to take a look at the spark plugs to see if there was a difference: Before TCW3: After TCW3 for 1400 miles: I know I need new spark plugs, but lets focus on...

    Should I extend my OCI?

I have a 99 Fiat Uno with only 43k miles on the engine, the Owner´s manual recommends a 6k miles OCI using a API SH 15w40 oil, but where I live we are used to 3k OCI. I´m currently using a CI4/SL rated 15w40 and I would like to extend my OCI because I think that I´m using a way better oil than...

    Should I use 10w30?

I have a 286k miles 01 Corolla, it has used 20w50 oil its entire life. Can I use a 10w30 oil after so many years of thick oil?

I´m starting TCW3 Oil in my fuel

I have driven 870 miles, I definitely feel more power especially in the low end and more torque with less throttle input. The car has liked a 450:1 ratio. One way I can illustrate the power increase is that is almost like the power difference when I drive my car on the night (68 °F and slighly...

Oil looks cleaner at operating temp

My engine oil looks almost transparent when the engine is at operating temp and it looks slightly dark when the engine is cold. What causes this? The oil additives are the ones responsible for this I guess. And also the dirt falls down in to the pan when the engine is cold. What are your thoughts?

My 285k mile Corolla sounds like it is going to blow up after 4k RPM so I wont be able to do the proper Italian Tuneup

Italian Tuneup really reduces carbon deposits?

Is there any proof that an Italian Tuneup is benefitial to an engine? Does it really reduces deposits on the combustion chamber and helps to reduce them also on the piston rings? Would you consider a 5 minute 3500 rpm run an italian tuneup?

    Can I use 80w90 instead of 75w90?

I have a 01 Corolla with a 5 spd transmission and I would like to change the transmission oil, the owner´s manual calls for a 75w90 GL4 oil and I can only find a 80w90 GL4 and a 75w90 GL5, I have read that GL5 should not be used in transmissions that call for GL4 oil so my only option is 80w90...
