    My mother's cars

To be fair to my mom, this was on a wide open interstate in upstate New York with no traffic near us. Back then, most of the expressways near our home on Long Island had speed limits of 65 and she respected them. But yeah, there was 5-6 inches of play in the steering wheel.

It was Park Neutral Drive Lo and Reverse PNDLR. It was a 210 with a Six. The Corvair had Powerglide with no Park. You had to use the parking brake, again a cane type. Here's a list of all transmissions available in the 57 Chevy lineup...

Should I stick with premium fuel ? GM LTG 2.0 Turbo

You don't state in which part of the country you live. Here in the northeast, we usually have a choice of 87 for regular, 89 for mid grade and 93 for premium, although a few brands will have six levels of octane, with the three highest usually 90, 92 and 93. On trips to the west, I have seen 85...

    My mother's cars

Thinking about my late Mom on Mother's Day and the cars she drove. My mom passed away almost 30 years ago, and I am reminiscing about her today. Mom was born in Manhattan and then lived in the Bronx, so in the early part of her life she never had a driver's license or a car. Mom and Dad lived in...

Anyone use a particle magnet on oil pan?

I would not recommend if you are using Castrol magnatec oil; you might cause the oil to be repelled away from the pan and get pushed into the intake

Excellent question. I have to dig out the records from a filing cabinet, but approximately 40k miles or so ago a new one was installed.

    She's a BURNER!

Back in 88, I bought a new Mustange with a 5.0 and a five speed (a great car) and it burned through a quart every 750 miles from new. I figured Ford just made the engine extra loose for performance sake. Eventually got 200,000 miles out of the car.

    Couldn't take it anymore

I think the wet traction is the most important quality in a tire. You expect to have traction issues with snow and if you live in an area with a lot of it, you will get dedicated winter tires. If you don't, you just drive extremely cautiously in the rare times that there is snow on the road. The...
