    BMW 0W-20

Is BMW any different than other manufacturers in that regard? There are no restriction on the use of oil. The electronic safety management controls will be based on the lightest oil recommended consequently there is no benefit (other than cost of the oil - it's pricier than 5W-30) just...

    BMW 0W-20

There is already a thread on the BMW 0W-20; see below: https://bobistheoilguy.com/forums/ubbthreads.php/topics/4162672/1 Don't know of any members that have started using it in the 4 cyl N20 engine yet although it is the preferred oil grade. While the oil grade along with a light 0W-30 for...

Tires like new but 10-20 years old. Replace?

I'm old enough to have had tires back in the day actually blow-out at speed. I've also experienced tread separation with the resulting vibration that usually precedes a high speed blow out if you don't change the tire. Tires are much better made today with higher minimum speed ratings, so if...

    2009 Miata Race Car, M1 5w20

One point I'm making is that there is no power advantage with RL race oils vs their own PCMO's when comparing the exact same operational viscosites as determined by oil pressure. I use RL products and have used their engine oils in my track car in the past; 10W-30, 5W-30 and a 10WT/5W-20 blend...

    2009 Miata Race Car, M1 5w20

I see that RL recommends their 20WT race oil for road raced Miatas. It should be noted that RL first and foremost in the business of selling motor oil. Their race oils with a TBN of 1-2 are intended for very short OCIs in the 500-1,000 miles. That's fine for out and out race engines but a waste...

    0W20 in the Ranger?

If you're uncomfortable running the PC 0W-20 in the winter months take it back and exchange it for PC 0W-30 which you can use year round.

    New 2016 428IX convertible- 0W20

The Noack volatility of 0W-20 oils is good with many in the 10% range and even lower. There are GP III 5W-50s that have worse Noack spec's.

    0W20 in the Ranger?

First welcome to BITOG! As others have pointed out you can use the PC 0W-20 year round if you have the 2.3L or 3.0L engine. If it's the 4.0L V6 you can use the 0W-20 as long as you can maintain sufficient oil pressure when the oil is fully hot and you likely can. If you don't have an oil...

    Petronas Syntium 7000 0W40 / Mitsubishi 4G15T

Your drivers handbook states an outdated API SG spec' so your car must be fairly old? Anyway, a 5W-30 with an A5/B5 rating is a pretty light oil so I wouldn't be at all concerned that the heavier but "light" Petronas 0W-40 would be too light. As I mentioned your UOA of this oil is excellent. I'm...

    New Toyota Tundra - TGMO?

You haven't said how you plan on using the truck but in lieu of any other info I would stick with TGMO 0W-20 even after the warranty period.

    Petronas Syntium 7000 0W40 / Mitsubishi 4G15T

Even if the Petronas is predominately GP III based that wouldn't concern me in the slightest. Nor does the 10% viscosity loss which is due to fuel dilution. Porsche for example allows up to 18% viscosity loss before the spec' 0W-40 is condemned. What is the power output for this 1.5L engine and...

Help me decypher this MSDS datasheet

Your UOA was exceptionally good. Yes it may be a PAO/GP III blend but no Visom or GTL. If the price is right I would keep using the Petronas Syntium 7000.
