AC Delco PF46 (Classic) Cut Open

In use for approximately 3,000 miles in my '98 Camaro Z28 with the 5.7 LS1 V8, and sat on the vehicle while in winter storage and run a few times before changing it again in the spring (about 9 months total) Looks fine aside from the wonky pleat spacing near the seam. ADBV was still pliable...

    2011 Honda Accord i4 120k Miles

The K24 is a great engine. I've used 5W-20, 5W-30 and 10W-30 in mine with no discernible difference. Your 09 should've been specced for 5W-20, not 5W-30. My '07 was specced for 5W-20 from the factory. I'd use either 0W-20 or 5W-20 in your 2011. Use the same in both to make things easier for you...

    Beaten, not babied, for sure!

That's awesome! Hopefully my LS1 Camaro can last that long. They feel so cheaply made though that I feel like the rest of the car will fall apart before the drivetrain does. I've already had problems with the window motor, cd player, door handle, power locks, suspension (bushings, etc.)...

Do you need to tell your insurance that you tow a boat?

Going by memory of years-old knowledge, I believe if you own the trailer, it needs to be added as an endorsement to your auto policy for that specific vehicle. If you borrow a trailer, it doesn't need to be specifically endorsed. Please double-check with your agent first as I could be...

    Motor oil shelf life

I've used 10+ year old oil a few times and never had an issue. The oil still looked fine, nothing like that photo above. I have a few cases of old Q Torque Power with the clear bottles and they look good as new. No separation or other issues at all. The dates on the back of them are from 2006.

Economy filters ($4) with silicone adbv?

Denso First Time Fit filters on Rock Auto are inexpensive, well made and have a silicone adbv.

A Fram oil filter leak found 2 days after mounting.

I've had a Wix come from the factory with a small dent on the dome of the filter that was not from the packaging or shipment. I tried contacting them and they just told me not to use it, instead of offering to replace it. That said, I haven't had a defective Fram as of yet.

    Which 0W20 to slow use

My Accord burns about a quart every thousand. It's extremely consistent and the brand/weight seems to make no difference at all. I've tried conventional, synthetic blend, synthetic, 5w20, 5w30 and 10w30 with no difference. I assume it's due to the oil control rings and as such, the weight really...

    How old are these frams?

They're basically new. I bought a bunch of those on Rock Auto and am currently using one on my Camaro in my signature. They are just the jobber version of the Ultra.

    Good project/beater car?

Try finding a 92-96 Camry. Great cars, almost indestructible. Not easy to find in rust belt states anymore, though. An '02-'04 Civic is another great choice, as well as an 03-07 Accord (4 cylinder).

Have you ever dealt with an oil filter so tight that even hammer and screwdriver

I've dealt with some insanely tight filters before, but nothing that a proper socket attachment or oil filter pliers couldn't eventually handle. I remember one of the worst ones I dealt with I had to completely crush the can with the pliers to eventually get it to turn without just taking the...

    Virgin Motorcraft 820 Cut Open

I've been using these on my cousin's Mustang GT because I always thought they weren't as prone to tearing as the regular Classics or Pure Ones. I guess I'll be finding something else to use next time. I have one in the garage that has only about 3,000 miles on it that I'll try to remember to cut...

    4Runner Odometer Rollback

A fun side note, when I sold my 1995 Integra it had 217k miles on it. It had a lot of cosmetic flaws/rust/etc. and I didn't sell it for much. I eventually saw the car for sale again on Craigslist, but it magically now had 150k on it. I started asking questions about it and its miles and VIN...

    2014 Accord oil use update

Honda K24 engines have been known to consume some oil due to the rings. Mine burns about a quart every 1k, but mine has over 10 times more miles than yours. My friend has another 07 with the K24 and his burns about a quart every 3k or so, if I remember right.
