Ford Halts Lightning Production for Battery Issues

Yes, if you aren't using all your battery charge in 60 miles. My statement was very clear about using an EV truck for real work, towing and hauling, where the mileage available drops to 60-70 miles on a full charge. You can drive that in an hour during a day of work. So you drive an hour, you...

Ford Halts Lightning Production for Battery Issues

Once again, 350kW Fast charging. Not charging at home. Has nothing to do with what I'm talking about when there are not 350kW charging available in your area.

Ford Halts Lightning Production for Battery Issues

Yes, they do. Thats great if you happen to have somewhere to charge the thing using that type of Fast charger. If all you have is your home (which is the only thing you are going to find in my area), it takes the hours that I said it does to get it to a reasonable charge to use. This info is...

Ford Halts Lightning Production for Battery Issues

I spent a few minutes looking up the charging info for the Ford SunRun charger that they have for home use. Fast as lightning Full charge in only 8 hours! The 80-amp Ford Charge Station Pro provides you 30 miles of driving for every hour your Extended-Range F-150 Lightning™ is plugged in.1...

Ford Halts Lightning Production for Battery Issues

Again, highly dependent on your ability to charge. I'm not talking about just the Lightning, there are multiple different vehicles with different size batteries that you seem to be forgetting about. Yes, it can take many hours to charge the larger batteries, even on 240V, and depending on the...

Captive vs separate USB-C power supplies

Agreed. I have Anker power supplies and wireless chargers as well, they are much better than any of the cheap junk you find. Very much recommend them.

Ford Halts Lightning Production for Battery Issues

Well that must be where they send them all then, I've only seen a couple Rivian in my area and I live less than an hour away from the plant here in IL. And yes, they are never doing anything that a truck does, just one person driving them around. I suppose enjoy them while they last, the people...

Ford Halts Lightning Production for Battery Issues

I don't know anyone in this area that just drives 20-30 miles with a truck for stuff like this. Anyone that uses a truck for real work ends up doing a lot more driving than 50 miles a day, regardless of the tasks. And since these EV truck drop into less than 100 miles of range when doing real...

Ford Halts Lightning Production for Battery Issues

EV trucks are probably one of the worst choices for people who actually use their truck to do truck stuff like hauling and towing. The range loss is just too much, its 50-70% loss when loaded. Even worse if its cold out. If all you do is drive it around with a couple people in it and nothing...

Stupid Jump Starter Storage Question - When to Charge?

Lead-acid or the newer Lithium based ones? I have a couple older lead acid ones I keep in my Camaros now, they usually need charged up a couple times a year. Just got a new Lithium based one that I'm keeping in my truck, nothing in the manual said anything about charging intervals that I read...

Transmission fluid for 98 Viper GTS

Lots of T56 were speced with Dex II/III. My 94 Z28 has the T56 and it has a label right on it that says to use Dex IIe, which was the last Dex II spec before Dex III. Last time I did a fluid change on it I used MaxLife and that was at least 6-7 years ago. No issues with shifting at all.

Replacing A/C condenser that was opened due to an accident, any reason to also replace the compressor?

I wouldn't replace the compressor unless there was an issue with it. Definitely the drier as well as the orifice tube/expansion valve, then add the necessary oil to the system and vacuum it down to make sure it has no leaks. I've rebuilt a few A/C systems over the years and the compressors I...

    86 IROC Z commercial.

Again, very dependent on the engine and options packages. For 89 the 350 auto could get a 3.23 rear but it was only available on the 1LE package and very few of those were produced. The manuals had better options, which the LB9 305 could get all the way up to a 3.45, another reason it could keep...

    86 IROC Z commercial.

No it definitely wasn't. A guy I knew with an 88 auto did some weird shifting thing where he would start in 1st, shift to 2nd during launch, shift back to 1st, then slam it up to 3rd after about half way down the track. I have no clue how he figured this one out but it did seem to get him to the...

    86 IROC Z commercial.

Oh, the doors are definitely heavy, there are rattles, the Ttops leak, and the paint definitely wasn't the best. Most of the 3rd gens actually used the 9 bolt rear end though, which is a better rear end as far as quality goes but it was made in Australia so getting parts for it can be a pain. My...

    86 IROC Z commercial.

The carb and TBI stuff from both GM and Ford were mostly in the 16+ times, there were a few that could do better but not much. I had an 84 Z28 with the LG4 before my 94 Z28 that had a whopping 150 HP and auto as well, so slow was definitely the speed it went. It was what I could afford at the...

    86 IROC Z commercial.

It really depends on which 305. The TBI and peanut cam TPI (which was only used on the auto cars with the 305) were always going to be slower. The LB9 305 with the manual (which had a much better cam on par with the 350) had no trouble beating a stock Fox Mustang, just like the 350. Course the...

    86 IROC Z commercial.

My 89 looks very much like this but with Ttops. Shes sleeping in the garage until spring comes back. Only thing I don't like about it is the auto transmission but they never put a manual behind the 350 in the 3rd gens. Mines mostly stock but I have done a few mods in the name of better...

Rockauto bait and switch on brake rotors -- how to proceed?

Sounds about like my last couple experiences with them, which ended up requiring me to dispute the transactions with my credit card company to get all my money back. Junk parts that didn't fit the vehicle with no part #s or info on the boxes as to what they even were. RockAuto's customer service...

click, no start 91 SBC chev v8

Check the battery, cables, and then the starter. If the battery is too low or the cables are corroded bad enough, it won't be enough to make the starter work. If those are good, probably the starter itself. The solenoids do fail in them, had it happen on my 95 Tahoe when I still had it. Starter...
