    15400-PLM-A02 Bought on eBay "Counterfeit"

Good question. I typically don't rely on the reviews...which can generally be loads of subjective BS. I research the actual companies that have ebay stores. There are several car dealers on there who sell Mopar (and other) parts and reputable aftermarket companies. For example, I recently...

Recommended value for money all season tires for 225/65/R17

Funny there are three pages of comments and one (one!) person (stormgol) who actually mentioned and provided UTQG data. This data should be one of the first things referenced...especially when the OP is seeking a value quotient. Most of the inputs here are subjective. That's fine as secondary...

    15400-PLM-A02 Bought on eBay "Counterfeit"

Pretty blanket statement. There are many, many reputable ebay vendors - to include authorized dealers and parts distributors. Do your research and you'll be fine.

Monroe, Gabriel or KYB quick struts?

Perhaps; however, anomalies in ride height might be attributable to the universalized nature of the springs in most quick struts. For example, a person's vehicle may be offered with several spring varieties from the factory (depending on the model's suspension, options, etc.) -- and most quick...

Can you change a fuel filter in a Walmart parking lot?

Emergency repairs are one thing. Performing preventive maintenance is another. Total breach of societal decorum. As Astro14 said, find your way to a friend's house. Go ahead, though. Might just end up on www.peopleofwalmart.com.

Tire puncture - Is this fixable?

If you bought them at Wal-Mart - and you have Wal-Mart+ or a Wal-Mart online account, the purchase transaction and receipt will be listed under your profile. If you are a Wal-Mart+ member, the installation package includes road hazard warranty at no extra cost. If someone besides you bought...

    New pads and rotors knocking?

You might be getting a mild bind when turning, which will prevent the rattle. This is something you want to address sooner rather than later. If the pads aren't happy and the caliper isn't sliding effectively you could get some uneven pad wear.

    New pads and rotors knocking?

100% agree with the above assessments. The fronts use abutment clips (into which the brake pads' "ears" slide) and the rears use an anti-rattle spring clip. A few possibilities are 1) the hardware that came with the new pads was ill-fitting junk; or 2) the mechanic lost, mangled, or failed to...

Any Texans familiar with Huisache trees?

Good feedback by everyone, thanks! We decided to keep it, and roughly a year after my initial post the tree is now 22 feet tall with a similar canopy diameter. I swear this thing must have been nuked at some point. Interested to see how big it'll get. I think it's still rather immature, as...

    Motor mount

Scott, If it's an easy job (which most right-side mounts are), I'd say use an Anchor or similar from Rock Auto if there's a huge price differential. If it's only a 10-20 dollar difference, use OE. You'll probably have to re-use your OE bracket for aftermarket mounts.

    Motor mount

Having done a lot of engine mounts, I concur with everyone above on the quality of most aftermarket parts. They frequently have the strength of wet spaghetti compared to OEM. That said, if they're easy to swap I've used the offshore mounts as it can be more cost effective in the long run...

What makes tires not hold balance?

Modern radials will never flat-spot overnight. It might be a concern if one is storing a vehicle for several months, but even that possibility is rare. I routinely store a few of my cars for months at a time, and have never had such an issue...even with Douglas tires.

What makes tires not hold balance?

What makes tires not hold balance? Assuming they were properly balanced, the answer could be: 1) "Driving by touch"...i.e., bouncing off curbs and other road hazards 2) Poor quality off-brand tire from a Chinese or Indonesian sweat shop. That's about it.

Electrical Outlet Inside Bathroom Sink Cabinet

True. Should have said it has to be GFCI-protected. I think the OP is puzzled because this is a bathroom vanity -- no disposal or dishwasher potential.

Electrical Outlet Inside Bathroom Sink Cabinet

Not in the US NEC, but municipalities may be more stringent. Should be a GFCI receptacle, though.

Are Chinese tires really that bad?

True, but post-WWII Japan was no longer an enemy. This is not the case with modern China.

Are Chinese tires really that bad?

I think LDB is the only person here who actually gets it. China is not a "peer," "competitor," or anything else similarly fuzzy. At present, the CCP is more of an enemy (even if not formalized) and is doing everything it can to contribute to the downfall of our nation.* This is not to say the...

Does lube actually stick to brake pad contact points?

Where did you exactly apply brake lube? To the pads' mounting ears? To the caliper piston contact area on the inboard pad? In either case, lube is totally unnecessary -- especially in a clean, dry climate. Excess lube will only tend to collect gunk and debris, and lubing the pad's backing...

    Centric Brake Parts

I've used their rotors a few times from Rock Auto. Nothing to write home about, but not bad. The two sets I bought were both Chinese, so will likely avoid in the future.
