    Auto ins just doubled!

Can't help but notice three traditional vehicles, two fun vehicles, and a tractor in your signature block. For just two drivers? Perhaps you should trim the fleet a bit if you can't come up with a grand. Insurance is like any other cost of ownership...when the costs get too high you have to...

People gas it so you cant switch lanes?

Bingo. And despite all the rationale offered for the practice, it all boils down to the dying art of driver courtesy. I consider us fortunate to live in Corpus Christi, which is a rather laid-back coastal city with overwhelmingly friendly folks. The friendliness definitely extends to our...

Feature I never saw before on a sedan- pass through leg rest

Indeed! Looks like this isn't a good option for the average American's legs. And if I'm driving I don't think I'd care for a sweaty set of Chuck Taylors riding shotgun. Or worse, Del Griffith removing his shoes in the car. OK, enough bad 1980s references. On a serious note, like your El...

Cool feature, but an ottoman for whom? Hervé Villechaize?

Boeing Gets Contract to Build F-47 Fighter Jet

Somebody reads too many internet articles about 737s. NGAD variants have been flying for about five years, so of course they're "up to the task." From the world's best 4th-gen+ aircraft (F-15EX, F/A-18E/F Super Hornet) to the MQ-25 Stingray to the KC-46 Pegasus, Boeing is in the habit of...

I now have an AC issue with my Explorer

If you're opening the system to atmosphere (which you will be doing), replace the desiccant. Every time. Do the job correctly. If you only have a bit of oil weepage (not leakage) at leaking joints, you needn't add oil. The systems are sensitive to over-oiling.

Stuck oil filter ... Camry 2AZ-FE

They work a treat...you can position it near the top, roll up the excess strap, and loosen away. No mess from poking holes, etc. Mine has never let me down.

Anyone ever order an exhaust from Rockauto?

I've ordered three Walker systems from RA without issue. Just ordered a Walker muffler and resonator for my old Caravan; however I got this setup from Amazon, as RA's shipping cost for the system made it about $30.00 more expensive than Amazon. Probably came from the same vendor in any case.

Stuck oil filter ... Camry 2AZ-FE

You need one of these large nylon strap wrenches. I've had mine for almost 30 years and she's undefeated. This type will allow you to get a grip near the filter base, and using a 1/2-inch drive ratchet it'll loosen with no issue...

    The Animal Shelters Are Full...

Your comment provides excellent perspective. My family has enjoyed many pets over the years, but at day's end we always remember they are animals. Comparisons to people - in word or deed - make me sick. A few years ago I had a new supervisor at work who tried the obligatory "get-to-know-you"...

2007 Dodge Grand Caravan 3.3 serpentine belt/tensioner/idler pulley

Don't waste time with the kit. Litens brand (made in Canada) is the OE supplier and can be had less expensively.

New tub/shower enclosure estimates - wow!

Indeed. And the fact my second guy dropped almost $6500 immediately after calling "the owner" showed me he was nothing but a windbag with lots and lots of profit built into his initial quote. And he wasn't even wearing the obligatory plaid sportcoat....

New tub/shower enclosure estimates - wow!

The big thing that's dissuading me from DIY on the tub enclosure is the size and fiberglass dust. I imagine I'd have to cut it up to get it out without damaging walls and to make it easier to haul to the dump. I figured it would be best to let someone else handle this one. The unit itself is...

New tub/shower enclosure estimates - wow!

Bought as a 44K-mile non-runner while TDY in Virginia in 2011. Installed timing belt and fixed her up and she's been a reliable and rust-free companion for the last 13.5 years. Everything works, including A/C. Just rolled 100K original miles last week. The clearcoat departed this earth...

New tub/shower enclosure estimates - wow!

History has shown this to be correct. Add-in the easy finance options and it's no wonder. People like me who just want a good price/value relationship and to write a check are largely in the minority. It's probably why I still drive my 1986 Dodge Daytona every day...

New tub/shower enclosure estimates - wow!

We're slowly remodeling our house, going room-by-room as I have time. The guest bathroom is on deck. Last weekend my wife and I attended the Corpus Christi Home Show, so we decided to take advantage of a few "free estimates" for tub and shower replacement. We're going with a Mexican theme for...

Anyone get a firestone lifetime alignment?

We do have nice flat roads; however, we returned to TX only two years ago after I retired from the USAF. My vehicles all lived in TX, AZ, CA, LA, and IL. I do sympathize with you in the northeast...lots of roads resemble the lunar surface.

Anyone get a firestone lifetime alignment?

Same here. My 258K-mile Caravan has only gotten aligned after I've done steering or suspension work, such as tie rods or struts. I think it's been three times in 20 years of ownership. Just got almost 70K miles out of my last set of tires. My 2008 Charger - bought new - has never been...

Four tire options, which would you pick?

Unless you're a repeat buyer, you can't make a reasoned and rational decision without comparing the UTQG ratings for each tire.
