    Been common sense in my house for near forty years. Even get better mileage with one brand over another. Those Gen V DI motors make great use of lower octane fuels to where the difference is not as great, if any, in the 5.3 motors for example.

    Someone mentioned earlier that E85 only goes up to 83% alcohol content. The other 2% is to make the fuel inedible. I forget the name of the additives.

    Interesting thread, glad to see other folks experimenting to see how varying levels of ethanol affect their cars. This is 5 years of running varying amounts of ethanol in my FlexFuel 5.3 engine. Sunoco classifies their E85R as 99 octane, so that is what I use when making octane rating...
