It is within the realm of possibility that you were just more effective than the average in getting most of the oil drained. :cool: From the service manual, the completely dry capacity with filter is 5.7 quarts for the 2.5L Skyactiv-G.

It may have been the wrong year Owner's manual but is the same verbiage from the 2019 Workshop manual.

I have used the Zerex G48 in our Mercedes that has the same coolant spec for several years with no issues.

It is important to only use GL-4 in the manual transmission, as GL-5 spec oil has additives that are harmful to the transmission. Redline makes an oil for the application that seems to work well for those that have changed out their fluid in their Mazda. It is Redline MTL 75W80 GL-4.

I used Pennzoil Yellow Bottle in 5W30 with the Toyota filter in a 1991 LS400 until I sold it at 260,000 miles. The UOAs showed extremely low wear values, which I suspect could be achieved with any good quality oil and the OEM filter. These engines are very easy on oil.
