Castrol Import Multi Vehicle for Toyota WS

Just noticed that Castrol doesn't list the Toyota WS as a compatible fluid. I guess I'll go with the Amsoil Low Viscosity ATF again. Any advantages to the Amsoil over the genuine Toyota WS fluid? I've used the 3x drain and refill method in the past with this stuff. 30k miles later and freezing...

Castrol Import Multi Vehicle for Toyota WS

I want to drain and refill the the automatic transmission of a 2006 Toyota Avalon. Previously, I have used Amsoil Low Viscosity ATF. I have on hand Castrol Multi Vehicle ATF. Anyone have any experience with this fluid when used in Toyota WS ATF applications? Thanks

    2003 RSX Type-S Issues

I was surprised that an axle can break on a completely stock RSX Type-S that is rated at 200hp. A mechanic I asked said it's common on FWD cars when someone tries burnouts and happens more often than on RWD cars. I always see "cool" kids racing their Civic's, Integra's and RSX's and have neve...

    Nissan Matic D, good replacement?

You can also use the more modern Matic J fluid as it is backwards compatible with the Matic D. I owned a '99 Maxima before and the transmission in them are tough. Keep up on the fluid changes every 15k miles and the transmission will outlast the car. So will the engine as it is virtually...

    2003 RSX Type-S Issues

Imagine an exhaust hanging from the bottom of a car and dragging against the ground. That's how it sounds like when we try to push the car with the engine running and the car actually moving from us pushing it.

    2003 RSX Type-S Issues

My friends younger brother bought a pre-owned 2003 RSX Type-S. Supposedly the car had a new clutch put in 14k miles ago. He decided to do a few donuts with a high rpm clutch drop while his friend was recording. When he dropped the clutch, the wheels started spinning and then all of a sudden-loss...

    Getting Cigarette Smoke out

For all you non-believer's, getting the smell out is possible. It takes time but it is possible. No more smoke smell for us. Thanks to everyone who have contributed with helpful tips.

    Getting Cigarette Smoke out

I've recently helped a friend acquire a vehicle where the previous owner was a heavy smoker. We cleaned it up and vacuumed it very well, including wiping everything off, cleaning the windows and cleaning and conditioning the leather with leather products. The smell is still present. I know...

    Toyota 4-Runner v6 vs. v8

Both are great and the important features have been pointed out above. Personally, I'd go for the V8. The motor is tried and true, also used in the Land Cruiser, Lexus LX470, GX470 and Tundra. Check to see if the timing belt on the V8 has been done already. If not, I'd probably wait until 120k...

Does anyone have the Kumho Ecsta 4X Tires

I'm surprised, you didn't like the Extreme Contact DWS. They would be my next choice if I were to keep the car longer than 20k miles.

Does anyone have the Kumho Ecsta 4X Tires

I can get a pretty good deal on these for my 2007 Infiniti G35x. I don't plan to keep this car for longer than 20k more miles so they fit the budget and performance specs quite well. I'm at $304 shipped after all rebates and price match on these. Then another $60 for balance and install. I'm...

    ATF change in a Honda

I would do 3-4 drain and refills with 1k-3k in between each drain. This would give the new fluid additives time to clean up whatever the old fluid left behind. Anything cleaned behind would be suspended in the fluid and be drained out during the drain. This would be safe enough to maintain a...

Heard anything about these GeoStar tires?

I swapped the tires from my old car and put on the Primacy's to avoid future problems with the Geostar's. The Michelin's have proven themselves well and will continue to serve as such.
